I recently obtained a copy of the polish version of Tension from a friend and was wondering if there was any way to run it WITHOUT installing Starforce (eg a crack) or, if entirely impossible, a manner in which I could use an image of my disk? The Russian crack by TRiViUM doesn't seem to work as the extractors provided seem to do nothing & then the bat file deletes core files for the game:

(Lines 17-20 - noting that it previously renames them to PROPERTIES_.VFS from PROPERTIES.VFS
del PROPERTIES_.VFS
del SCRIPTS_.VFS
del SOUNDS_.VFS
del GESTURES_.VFS)

Thanks

is it an original?

Yes it is - so while I CAN play it normally by installing the starforce drivers supplied with the game and inserting the disc in the drive, I've found that my computer regularly crashes whenever I try to hibernate with the starforce drivers installed & I would honestly rather not have to resort to keeping the disc in the drive.

hmm, can fully understand the reasons, have you tried making an image with daemon tools ? (this at least allows you to play without the disk, if it works, but the starforce drivers will still be active, so hibernation = no go)

Yes I have tried making an image with daemon tools & while the image was successfully made, the starforce drivers still detected it as an emulated dvd & BSOD'd my computer.

However, I did manage to solve the problem (i.e. got it to run) - I extracted the TRiViUM crack over the top of the original files, deleted the *.bat file (as it is useless in this case) and replaced the Properties.vfs, Scripts.vfs & the Gestures.vfs with the patched russian versions of the same files. However, I'm not entirely sure what effect this will have on the game itself - so I'll edit the post when I have done more testing.

EDIT: Oh, and thank you TippeX for your help.
