Dark Earth ( Fatal Error : 8 , not working with sound )

hi everyone

i'm a new member and i need help with the game Dark Earth.

My prob. is when I play with sound ( character sound ) it says " dark earth

has encountered a problem and needs to close sorry for the inconveneince "

but when I disable the sound it works fine here's a pic of the message

Also I have a prob. with the save menu when I enter the game closes with

a message " Fatal Error : 8 " .

Any 1 can help me ? I'll be very Thankfull

Whats your soundcard is it a PCI or PCI-e (1 speed) card or is it onboard?

Also if your on XP you can goto start > run > dxdiag and goto the soundtab and set the hardware acceleration to basic instead of full.

I've downloaded patch made for the game now all that is gone

but there's one problem left I can't save when I go to the save menu

I get the message " libsys error ls_error 8 BMAP BMAP video init error "


any idea how to fix this :)

this happens when using the crack? (try using the original exe and disk, see if the problem happens there too)

I Know , I have the original CD and EXE tried the original it's because the

original one didn't work and I'm using Win XP / Royale

kept viewing that message of it needs to close so I downloaded

the patch it's working now just save menu I don't know how to

have it work .

Whats your PC specification, i.e. what hadware etc have you got.

Graphic card and sound card I was interested in also, but seeing as the game was release way back in 1997, a good chance your hardware is able to run it. You no doubt have Windows XP as royale was a GUI addon than an operating system.

So its a bit difficult to come up with any answers from the blue to diagnose whats wrong with the game, since we cant see whats happening or check your laptop.
