burn DVD1 with label Mirror's Edge1

you have to change the msi properties:
right-click on the file and choose "properties" (last option in the list)
on the end of new windows appearing on screen you'll see a "read-only" box marked - remove the mark and press OK.
open now with orca and you can edit now..

i wouldn't say that is problem, but you can edit embedded mst for your language and change "Please insert the disk: Mirror's Edge" in "Error" tablet to "Please insert the disk: [2]" so it then uses what you write in DiskPrompt column in "Media" tablet.

Same with LotR Conquest embedded mst's have "Please insert the disk: {[ProductName]}", changing that into "Please insert the disk: [2]" would use DiskPrompts in media tablet.

But like i said,i don't see any problem with it. Its not that hard to figure what disk yo need to insert :D

I have that, it's a standard. But it doesn't work

Yes, autorun.dat has "Please insert the disk: [2]" but for example english install, autorun.dat includes en-uk.mst which is used during install and that mst file changes it to "Please insert the disk: Mirror's Edge" and changes should made to en-uk.mst and not to autorun.dat

You need to open autorun.dat with orca and then apply transform... from menu and select en-us.mst

Read "how to edit embedded .mst files in .msi" section from link provided earlier or wait for step by step guide which will be more precise and easier to follow than my old "How to guide..."

I prefer to put files as much as possible to 1st DVD, and for 2nd DVD leave free space for future updates and other extra files.
So can you edit autorun.dat file? Because it's to complicated for me...

But install sequence is DVD1-DVD2-DVD1 then wouldn't it be best to leave free space on DVD1

move CookBlds.cab - CookVehi.cab and you have then 4,33GB DVD2 and 1,70GB DVD1

If its too complicated then learn it, no one wants to edit every user separate autorun.dat


Hi. I have a question.I'm from Spain and when I run the game's setup the installation starts directly in spanish but the problem is that I want the game to be in english.So my question is how to install the game in english???

Edit localization.ini in Support folder on DVD1 and remove or add space to front of es=1

atleast i do that (add space to all other languages except english) with EA Games which try to install language based on location and want it to be english instead

Alcohol does recognize it, and I´ve tried with nrg (Nero) and ISO images, but the installation does not, and every time a use Mirror´s Edge 2 as label.

autorun.dat has same label for both, but changes are made in mst files so there is no reason to change labels in autorun.dat

Just use that autorun.dat in that conversion and it will work

I said that it's not a login problem. If I try to get in the main page "www.cd-2-dvd.com" I get the same error, with mozilla and internet explorer. Is this page only available for some countries??

EDIT: Now I can get in the page. As I said, that web, is blocked for some countries so I had to get in throught a proxy server. Greetings... (sorry for my english).

EDIT2: I was looking the mst files that are includded in the autorun.dat. Each one make changes in the media table too, so when you make a conversion to 2DVD5 you have to be careful with that.

Copy cabarc.exe [from cabarc73.5kb(6.0.5730.13)] to c:\windows\system32\
Copy contents of game to hdd - dont copy GameMov.cab at this time
Download and extract fake_cab_by_ravd.bat to hdd where you copy game and run it [after that delete it].
From DummyCabs cut all files [dummy cabs] to main folder on hdd where you copy game and replace all.
Copy from dvd9 GameMov.cab to hdd.

Delete files from hdd:
from Redistributable\ [leave only for ENglish]
vcredist_x86_de.exe
vcredist_x86_es.exe
vcredist_x86_fr.exe
vcredist_x86_it.exe

delete DummyCabs

Download TdGame_dummy.bat and put in hdd and run it - it's dummy TdGame folder [after that delete it]


PART 2 - Installing anc Compressing Game.
Install correctly game to any place.
In installed folder delete folders:
E:\Program Files\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\TdGame\Movies\
E:\Program Files\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\Support\
E:\Program Files\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\Engine\Localization\ - all folders that you dont need [leave INT]
E:\Program Files\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\TdGame\CookedPC\Audio\ - all folders that you dont need [leave INT]

Files to delete:
E:\Program Files\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\Binaries\*.* [leave PhysXLocal subfolder]
e:\Program Files\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\GDFBinary.dll
e:\Program Files\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\ME_Icon.ico

Install Total Commander - Download (http://www.ghisler.com/download.htm).
In TC go to installed folder [in left panel]
E:\Program Files\EA Games\ [that path where i have installed game]
in right panel go to
E:\Program Files\EA Games\
in right panel make new folders - for example name it: 1 and 2

Delete non needed language [leave english untouched = INT]
THAT STEP FOR ENGLISH ONLY [remove lang when move in total commander]
for that deletions use TC
In left panel select Mirror's Edge folder and in right panel go to 2
back to left panel and hit F6 [move]:
in row 'Only files of this type' write

Make iso [for example in starburn] and test it, volumelabel any or use orginal.

As Napalmguy said try to use switches -mx -ld=192m (192mb for decompression) :p

I only used -mx (-ld=1gb default)

now mean that u need 2gb ram to uncompress sfx not 1gb but twice that size

and that is alpha/beta version - not always succesfull create archive

I have a problem with the convertion, i have tried all the methods of convertion in this thread and every time the same message apears in about 3 minutes during the installation of the first dvd:

It commonly occurs because the DVD is dirty or scratched

I use compression "Maximum: -mx" but I get always exe error FreeArc
sometimes I/O error

I use high compression method but The ME_1.exe file isn't enough fit size for DVD5.

2) rather dont compreess files/folders bigger that 2GB
3) have freespace on partiton where freearc is installed or on c: partition?

Why to NOP all files and after than install the game, isn't that give and error ?!

WHICH directories and/or files you packed with freearc as ME_1 and ME_2 ?! Because TdGame from picture nr 1 and nr 2 are different and TdGame directory exists also in installed game and also un-installed one (i mean the one found on dvd9)...

Please make time to recheck your guide and guys... you lied, you didn't tested THIS peterf1999 work... because its wrong also at step 4 and 5 he told to NOP files and install game after that !?!?!!!!!!

I've tried it too.
With ALL languages.
I even did it with the v1.01 patched game (Which only changes the game's main executable, btw. AFAIK, the patch doesn't even changes the registry)
And yeah, it fitted in a single-layer DVD. And despite taking much time to compress, it even installed reasonably fast... =X

So, unless you:
- Tested it with a different "release" of the game (Like Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/17410/), Origin (http://store.origin.com/store/eaemea/pt_BR/pd/productID.107385500/sac.true) or the "Japanese-Chinese-Korean" quoted in gamecopyworld (http://m0001.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_mirrors_edge.shtml))
- Or want to put the main game AND the Time Trials DLC

I'm testing dvd9-2dvd5 conversion. Edited autorun.dat, made two iso images (moved CookMap0-9 to second image) and mounted first image with daemon-tools. However in the middle of the installation when I have to insert second disc (mount second image) the prompt keeps telling me to insert game disc. I've tried different autorun.dat files posted here with no success. Any ideas please?

Thanks but it didn't help me. Uninstalled game, cleaned registry, edited autorun.inf with no result.

Ok. Post #11 helped. I did exactly what peterf1999 said with second image (named it "Mirror's Edge 2") But the most interesting thing is that my first image is named DVD1 and works perfectly. Strange indeed.

However I'd like to know what was wrong because it was the first (and I hope the last) time I had a problem like this.
