I recently bought a new PS2... I plugged in the 8MB memory card, it was not detected... Then I tried lifting the memory card a bit ( When it was plugged in ) then the console is detecting the memory card. Why is this happening? How come there is a loose connection in a new PS2? ( But when I plug the MC it is seating properly )... Any ideas?

Give it some contact spray (e.g. WD40); does that help?

Ehmmm... I'm very new to this PS2 console gaming... :) Where can I get WD40 spray? U mean to spray it on the MC or the port which is in the PS2? By the way yesterday only I bought the PS2 + MC and ripped it off from their packaging :(

WD40 is a very general spray that removes grease and other shit from metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wd40 ) so it can be used for getting rid of contact problems, too; try some DIY shop or something. It doesn't matter which part - port or plug - you spray because it the other will also be cleaned upon insertion. I suggest you spray it on the card, though, so that it doesn't get inside the console.

However, if both the console and the card are brand new then I don't think it'll help. If you have someone around with another PS2 and a memory card, try swapping them around to find out whether the PS2 or the memory card is faulty - and then bring that back to the shop and ask for a replacement.

I do have a PS2 but I don't have time to play with it and I'm not very familiar with possible problems with it either. All these above were just some general ideas that apply to other computers, too...

Thanks Joe Forster/STA... I'm taking my console to my friend's home today... I'll try swapping the MC and check... ( Being a FPS fan is PC, it is impossible for me to target anything on PS2 right now :D... Hope games will support mouse  )
