the sims 2 apartments

I'm trying to install the sims 2 apartment life, I extracted the mdf and mds file...I read the directions and it says the first thing to do is install, how do I go about installing it when I only have those two files that I can't open?

Shoulda read the rules first, go and buy the game then you wont have this problem.

i did buy the game, I can't run it because its dvd, which I'm extremely mad about because every other game is cd. I have the serial and game and everything, I just want to run it without a cd.
