View Full Version : Alone In The Dark (2008) - NO DISCUSSION OF CRACKS!!!
Attention : this game uses online activation, as a result a crack (if any do actually appear) will NOT be hosted here, for reasons stated in the faq...
so, feel free to discuss the game, likes, dislikes and so on...
but if the conversation goes in the direction of a crack discussion (currently there is no crack), those involved will be shown the door and given a nice holiday from the forum....
personally, i thought the game was nice visually, but the controls and camera 'angles' really let it down...
I dont know if ill buy this, I played the previous titles years ago, and I mean years :P and I dont know if this souped up version is going to deliver the same feeling and excitement the original versions gave.
Maybe ill look for a demo to see if its worth a purchase.
old ones.. 1,2,3 were gr8 fun.. 4 was a bit crap, this one is nice graphics, controls suck and ruin the game... and i dont think they've announced any possibility of a demo yet.. with their attitude of threatening to sue sites that gave bad reviews on day 1 (which was apparently a breach of contract) i'm a bit suspicious of them.. their reputation is surely tainted from this... and it doesn't make me confident in any of the reviews out there.. best i'd give is 5/10...and thats purely for the visuals, and that 'novelty' wears off pretty quick
Guess you made up my mind then hehehe

online activation for both..
and theres one you can buy in the stores has activation + disk check (only once i think)

Ain't going to buy this game.
Seems similar to Assassins Creed (adventure) and I regret buying it - to much keys to press to make a movement :(.

@TippeX
Check my thread in database ;)
well online one can't have a disk check :)
honestly unsure if the store bought one has a disk check every time after activation or if its a one off....

I do have a copy from the store TippeX, everytime you want to start the game you have to insert dvd.
damn, hope you can bring it back for a refund ;)

Uppps! this means you need to change the thread title - after all a crack maybe needed to remove the CD Check.
nope, because the game still requires online activation.. so its a catch-22 there...
using crack = no activation needed....

so what if you jus write the serial down ? or just choose activate manualy. it still doesnt work ?
you use the original serial you got when you bought it... activiation is pretty plainless if you're not a warez user..

The board says that after registration that you dont need the DVD, I bought the game, registered it, but still need the DVD to play, am I missing something ?, shame had so many negative responses to it, I spent 5 mins on it and had enough

I was looking forward to this one, but it seems there are quite a few bugs and the controls for the PC version are plainly bad. The highest review rating was around 7, the lowest was 3.5. So I guess I'm gonna pass on this one. I still have Mass Effect to finish on Hardcore and Insanity level,
Same here... I wasn't going to buy this game at first, but when I read that it didn't require the disk in the drive after installation and activation I bit the bullet and dropped the $50. I played a little of the game after insttall/activation while the disk was in the drive, then exited the game, removed the disk, and tried to start it up again. Here's what I got!!!
No disc inserted.
Please insert the original "AITD-RDVD" CD/DVD.
Like dragon66, I too am wondering if I am doing something wrong, or if the comments about not requiring a disk refer to the download version of the game (DUH, obviously no disk needed THERE!!! LOL).
again, depends which version you bought... im guessing yours is the store bought version
also don't make another damned thread... i've moved it to this thread...

I own this game and after you activate it you still have too have the disk in the drive to play it.The online activation does not remove the disk check,at least not the us version.
how many times do i have to say it...
if its the digital download version there wont be a cd/dvd check, if its a store bought copy, there will...
and both will have activation required...
...OK... So, can a crack allow playing the game without a CD but still require the activation? I have no serious problem with a one-time on line activation, but of the THOUSANDS of games I have on CD and DVD, and using fixed-exe's, no-cd cracks, or disk images, there are only maybe 3 or 4 that I EVER have to put the disk in the drive in order to play.
And make no mistake - I OWN every last one of these games, to the tune of well over $20,000, and in NO WAY support or encourage any form of piracy! I simply want to be able to play any game I choose at a given moment without having to worry about looking for the disk among my massive collection, or worry about scratching or damaging a disk for games that I play frequently.
It seems that the statement on GCW's site under this game stating "This game does not require the DVD to be present after the game has been activated with a valid/legal serial. So a Fixed EXE is not needed!" should be qualified to NOT include the boxed version.
And OF COURSE the downloaded version of the game is NOT going to require a disk in the drive, since THERE IS NO DISK!!! LOL
any crack released will circumvent the activation process
thus, it will not be hosted here... there's no real workaround...
aww too bad for me i have version from the store and i have to keep my disc (payed 70e for it) in drive everytime i play
guess no help from GCW this time :(

It is me or this title is getting worst every release? Maybe they can remake the first one; That world be pretty cool. Anyway, i hope you can activate it more than 3 time unlike some other evilish OS i know :p .
Bought the game and played for 15 mins... I did not like it... controls suck big time ( Thats the same reason I hated TRA ) and I got some flickering issues as well :( Planning to trade it for some other title...
A Fixed Image has been added but it has not yet been confirmed to work
Let us know if it does or not!
* Install the game - Full Installation.
* Mount the MI-AITD.MDS Mini-Image in DAEMON Tools v4.12.3.
* Set speed of the virtual drive to 1x using Nero DriveSpeed.
* Use an anti-blacklisting tool, like Y.A.S.U v1.3, to avoid blacklisting of DAEMON Tools.
* Play the Game!
wow, nero drive speed 1x.. first time i've seen that...
No luck with the fixed image
:(
Tried it with daemon,yasu,Nero Drivespeed
Its not working.
I dont understand why nero drivespeed 1x..confusing.
Thanx anyway
:)
I dont understand why nero drivespeed 1x
Nero DriveSpeed might help when DPM file quality is so-so.
@TippeX
It's been recommended before some times, e.g. for GRID Mini; don't remember the others
aah weird, cos i thought daemon tools was meant to handle all that... but yep if dpm is crap then i can see why... crazy, seems as protection 'evolves' more and more steps are needed... like unplugging all ide drives, and so on... most of the time its easier just to pop the disk in and be done with it

Okay, I've just seen the game, and frankly is a mess. A friend of mine bought it today, despite my warnings. Now he awaits for Monday morning to return it. This game is quite a mess: poor controls and a lots of bugs are just a few turnoffs. Also the poor optimization it can drive crazy most of the people. Yes, the graphics are nice, but everything feels so half-baked, so rushed. No amount of patches could solve the mess that the fifth installment of AITD is...:(
And yes, you need the DVD in drive after activating the game:(
And I had so many hopes for this one. I'll stick to not buying it. Atari should really stop rushing things(TDU and the NWN2 are other fine examples of Atari rushing their titles out, but those two had problems that were solved in the patches, thing that i can't really see happening with AITD5)

I didn't buy the game but watched the video review gametrailers made and it just like you said: a mess. they said the graphics are good but gameplay isn't. searching other sites and reading their reviews, confirms that.
A shame. If is not a console port then is a rushed version.
wolfsrain
05-07-2008, 11:43
They took their sweet time doing some very nice graphics, but they did it completely bad at the part that matters most: gameplay and controls. And the game was developpped with the consoles in mind and even there they managed to do it poorly. Shame on Atari.
Its the same like Bioshock, after online Activation u have 2 put the DvD in the LW  I hate it but do it :p I didnīt think this mini image is the better way. 2 the Game: i like it. very good Grafik and Effects. With Mouse and Keyboard i can play very good, didnīt understand what someone have? :)

You don't need a crack, just mount the full image which you have created with New SecuROM profile.

do you mean daemon tools securom emulation? i already try it and the game gives me the emulation detection error.
neither the mini image or the full image works unless is from steam i guess.
Blazkowicz
11-07-2008, 13:58
You don't need to activate SecuRom emulation, it is also a bit system dependable, so it works for some users and for some not. These users have to wait for DT update.

so i mount my image with this daemon tools using this profile?? or i have to make a new image using that profile and that daemons ?
(if that the case i didn't know that daemon tools allows you to make images of your dvds.)
you MAKE your image using that profile... and blazkowicz also mentions daemon tools pro advanced...
the free version (which i suspect you are using) doesn't have the image making feature...

Thank you for clearing that up about the Daemon Pro i guess ill either have to wait till someone comes out with another means cause i just cant justify paying for DTpro to play this game but thanks again atleast i know now .
OK, please forgive me in advance if I am being particularly dense and not understanding what I have read in this thread.
I purchased AitD a while ago (boxed retail DVD), installed it, activated it, and ran it. I played it briefly several times with no problems. I have been trying ever since to set things so that I could put away the DVD and continue to play the game. Here is what I have done so far...
1) Downloaded the No-DVD/Fixed Image File Archive from GCW and extracted the 2 files to a folder
2) Upgraded my DT to the latest version
3) Downloaded and installed Nero DriveSpeed 3.0
4) Downloaded and installed Y.A.S.U. v1.4.7080
5) Re-booted the computer
6) Ran DT and mounted the image file from GCW for AitD
7) Ran Nero DS and set the read speed of the drive the image was mounted in to 1x
8) Ran Y.A.S.U. and clicked on "Cloak" (got the response "SecuROM 7.x: 1 device(s) successfully cloaked")
9) Clicked on the desktop icon to start the game.
10) Was greeted after a few seconds with the message "Conflict with Emulation Software detected."
After this, I put the DVD in the drive and created a new image, which I saved to a different folder. I again rebooted the computer and tried running the game using the steps outlined above with the new image.
Is this a problem that I can resolve, or is this just not going to work for me??? I am at the point now where getting this game to run without the disk is more of a challenge than the game itself!

the only way at the moment that we can play the game without our original DVD in the drive is to purchase Daemon Tools Pro cause it has a way of making the proper image then mounting it under a certain securom profile that only exists in the pro version . im in the same boat is you so im just going to have to make do with my original disk in the drive all the time till another solution presents itself which im sure at somepoint it will .
What can i do to make AITD5 start?

Insert your original dvd or use self created DT Pro image.

Well, with latest version do you mean which version exactly? Also which drive you exactly use. You could also try to open a thread in DT forum.

Well, i asked for DT version cause there are many users out who say they are using the latest one, but in reality they are using an outdated version.
Also create a thread in DT forum regarding drive support with more detailed information.
Enough offtopic - let's get back to topic - Alone In The Dark

Just select New SecuROM as profile.
and get error about DPM.... because DTP cant reduce speed of u Drive...
And FAQ is a 2006? or 2005? its OLD and nobody wont renew this... because its no helping....
I think better try Alcohol 120.
Or buy new DVD drive which can read DPM correctly.
With new DTP i cant copy Bioshok disk... its old game now so... its sux
SORRI FOR OFFTOP but i need 2 say this because its a cheating.
Blazkowicz
19-07-2008, 08:38
Well, the help site is from 2008 and the renew process to latest version is in progress.
It's no cheating, your drive is just not correctly supported yet and Bioshock can be copied perfectly.
What about creating a thread in DT forum and describe your problem instead of complaining here.
here is any one who buy the game online?
sure, whats the question?

...OK, an observation and related question:
Bioshock requires online activation just like AitD, yet it (Bioshock) can be started and played without the disk in the drive.
Why the difference???
nando2002
11-08-2008, 03:51
There is no difference between both games (protection).
The only difference is the choice made by the mods of this forum: do not talk about cracks for this game since it has Online Activation.
If you buy the game you must have an internet Connection - I think the cover state that.
That's all.
i think bioshock was the start, which caused the rule to be made if i remember right...

Actually, I think Two Worlds was the one who started.
nando2002
11-08-2008, 09:29
Two Worlds has Online Activation but was cracked in patch 1.2 with an Activation keygen (I think it was created by the group "razor 1911") because it was a proprietary system. Securom online activation (paul) is more strong and crack groups has a hard time trying to break it.
Relic also uses online activation but never update the protection after the initial release of CoH:OF. That why GCW still points to the original "rs.dll" (cracked by FLT) when a new crack comes out.
wolfsrain
11-08-2008, 12:01
Took them two weeks for both Bioshock and Mass Effect to be cracked. Tages's Solidshield it's still tougher to crack. Sooner or later, the online activation will be cracked in a day, just like the other protections. I have both Bioshock and Mass Effect on my PC (just finished Bring down the sky DLC for ME and it was a very disappointing experience) and I must say I'm not gonna repeat the mistake buying AITD V. I pay for my games, but with online activation, I just pay for a product that will be useless after my 3 activations are expiring. I'm really not okay with that. At least Two Worlds had the decency not to limit your activations. AT AITD V you get a limit and a DVD check. If they don't follow Bioshock's example and remove the activation limit, they won't see my money. As for mass Effect, i just couldn't resist to a Bioware game, but I still don't like the limit on the activations.
The 3 activations are nothing bad, once up you just apply for 3 more etc.
If you have given your game to someone else and they have activated the game etc then you will probably not get the 3 without a very very serious excuse.

@efsanera - wrong portion of the forum to post, what you have done is effectively hijack the thread... but well, lets help you... (just don't do it again)
1. does the problem happen if you use the original exe and the original disk?
2. does the game crash, give some error (if so, post it) or just magically exit?
