Ok, I have BF2142 installed, with a CD-Key that is legal and even registered with EA, the problem is that when I moved one of my roommate's decided that on top of the DVD would be the perfect place to drop the couch.

Here I am with two halves of a disc that used to work just fine, leading me to my current problem.

Using a legally purchased CD-key and installed game, is there a way I can still legally play the multiplayer combat I am so addicted to.

I have read your forums and a dozen others on, reaching the conclusion that a NO-CD exe is not what I want, as I want to play online. A mini-image also will not be any good, since apparently bf2142 is built to avoid that.

So, my solution seems to be to get my hands on a full sized image of the game (space isn't a problem, I have 1.2 terabytes of HDD space, I'm comfortable allocating 3.4 gigabytes to a game I love). My question is thus;

Will downloading a full-sized image of the game recorded using alcoholsoft and mounted under daemon-tools with all emulations enabled allow me to play online? Are there any special steps I should be aware of?

Regardless, if this works I will keep the forum up to date with my progress.

getting your hands on a 'full sized image of the game' would be illegal, considering you dont have an original disk to make the image from.. and seeing as licenses aren't transferrable, your only safe option would be to contact the publisher for a replacment disk, and then go about making the image...

This is all clearly covered by forum rule #1 as a no-no.
