I have a dell optiplex L60 and managed to solve the unmovable block problem,
Ive installed the xp windows home edition but cannot change the display options I tried all the things about properties, selecting monitor but cannot get to drivers option for monitor its there but not highlighted,Is there any place i can down load and install the drivers manually? Dont have the disks as the computer was donated to my partners play school for the children to use,
so it boots up od but stuck on very low graphics, done the video card checks all ok, as for dell could not find any monitor driver downloads so hopeing someone may have a site i can get them from,
Thanks,
Peter
Its not the monitor driver you should be worried about its the graphic card driver. Without the proper driver installed for it, you will be limited to microsoft's own crappy driver.
http://search.euro.dell.com/results.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen&cat=sup&k=optiplex+l60&qmp=12&p=1&subcat=dyd%2f1004&rf=all&nk=f&sort=K&snpsd=A&nf=19019%7e7%7e141294&navla=19019%7e7%7e141294&ira=False&~srd=False&ipsys=False&advsrch=False&~ck=anav
Should find the driver for both the graphic card and monitor there, also make sure if you have another graphic card (one thats not on-board) that you get that also.

(This thread - just like the previous ones - doesn't belong to the Hardware forum! Moved.)

Sorry,
But where does it go, though it was a hardware problem so put it in that ok ban me get it over and done with you should have a few different places to put stuff under, seems to me you allow alot of pirate based mail to get through, you picked me up yesterday for double posting even though asking for windows files was different

1. We have a forum called Software. That's where software-related problems belong. (Surely, all software-related problems are also hardware-related as software runs on hardware but that's not the point.)
2. You received an infraction for triple posting: reposting both halves of your already existing thread. (This is considered a severe case of impatience.)
3. We don't allow posts that obviously discuss warez. We do allow posts that discuss something that may or may not be warez because we cannot tell; "assumption of innocence" it is called.
You download the drivers, obviously the latest version. And run the file you downloaded it will install.

Hi dabhand,
I went to the dell site and downloaded the 2 sets of drivers for the aoo which is the ones for the optiplex, i copied them to a disk and installed them both went into a new directory, but even after that when i tried the properties on the monitor i stll cannot change the settings, it has the place where you click on in but its not alowing me to change it, wont let me go to the monitors driver menu,Any suggestions ?
With dell files, the first time you run the file it will depack to a c:\dell folder correct?
Then you go into these folders and run any setup.exe files you find.
If a folder say for monitor doesnt have a setup.exe file, then you can try this.
Right Click My Computer, and in new pop up window goto properties, then on this new window.
goto Hardware tab, then device manager.
You can right click your hardware in the list to update its driver and tell it to look in the folders you made.
For the case of the monitor driver, you will have to right click anywhere on the desktop (that has no icon's etc) and goto properties, goto settings tab, then advanced button. In this new window, goto monitor tab, then click the properties button at the top.
In this new window, goto the driver tab, and click the update driver button. From here you can tell it to look in the folder made by the file you downloaded.

Thanks dabhand for all your help, ill have a go with that info shortly.tried that could not get any files to load also tried the monitor clicking on desk top got all the way to the monitor tab but still would not allow me to open the properties, got the right files at add but will not allow me to access them. When i checked my own computer went to display properties you get the 2 screens up and under that it says plug and play radeon etc, but when i try the display properties on the optiplex
there is no mention of the card details at all only default monitor,
Only thing I can suggest is someone you know who is a bit savvy in at least installing drivers to do it for you.
Cause its not so easy at my end not being able to see the situation to totally 100% help you.
