Updating Crysis V1.0 to V1.1 "Problems" [Archive]

Does anyone know how to overcome the updating problem?
I get an error telling me that it "couldn't read the cd"

Can anyone please HELP!!!!!!!!!:eek:

well, is the cd / dvd in the drive? is it scratched?... more info helps

i had the same problem first.

if you have modiefied any fieles of the game (enabled dx10 in xp / use a crack / enabled cheats etc) the update tries to read from dvd, but wont find the needed file, because it doesnt exist.

the only way to fix this is to uninstall the game, delete the games folder if there are some rests and then reinstall it. then you can patch it. after that you can remodify files if needed (cheats, dx 10 etc)
(found it somewhere in the ea forums when i had the problem)

Thanks KillaBot, I didn't have to delete it just had to do a "REPAIR" and all worked fine after that.
