My girlfriend plays Sims 2, and I was able to save her the hassle of swapping CDs all the time when playing the original. She has all the expansions, and so far I've only been able to get University and Nightlife to work.

The Open for Business and later expansions don't work with the mini files from GCW even when I follow all the instructions using daemon 347. Is it an emulation problem? I've tried turning all emulations on and off, and while the expansions install perfectly, when she goes to play it says to put the disk in the tray, which is exactly what we're trying to avoid!

Has anyone else had this happen? Usually the .mds files work great, but here I'm stuck.

I´m not entirely sure, as i´ve never used the files to play the sims 2, however, DT 347 is quite outdated try downloading the newer version.

Thanks for the reply, and I know it's an old version. Somewhere I read that old version wasn't blacklisted so it was a way around the CD check.

Also, that version of DT is what the steps at GCW said to use. I was just following directions! (I normally use the latest version, but that doesn't work either).

Turns out I can't get *any* of the addons to work properly, none after Nightlife, anyway (the second out of about ten). Guess she'll just swap disks until I can work this out.

Nope; obviously, it is exactly old versions that get blacklisted and new versions are the ones that circumvent most, if not all, blacklists.

Your comment about the blacklist version makes a great deal of sense.

I tried DT 4091 first, before downgrading to go along with the instructions in GCW:

* Install the game - Full Installation.
* Mount the SIMS2EP3_1.MDS CD-Image using DAEMON Tools v3.47 or the latest Alcohol 120%.
* Play the Game without the CD!

Steps one and two work great! Step 3, not so much.

...never could get "Open for Business" to work on its own, but I shuffled the rest of her CDs and loaded the rest of the expansions she had.

By the time I got up to Seasons (the last she bought), I was able to mount the mds for that one (which I guess includes and works with all the earlier ones), so's all good now.

Thanks for your help, all I needed was several later versions of the hammers. Best of all, it works with DT 409, so I don't have to keep versions!

EA is a bunch of idiots. They made lots of expansions, but didn't clarify what to do with them. If you install a later expansion, DO NOT USE OPEN ANY OLDER EXPANSIONS! It will not work right! You must ALWAYS use the executable of the LATEST expansion. Which means, no use in Fixed EXE for any older expansions or any mini images or anything, you must use the latest expansion.

Basically, its easier said like this. Now, the latest is the Teen Style Stuff Pack. If you try and use the fixed exe for it to run the game, it'll just say "Please use the latest expansion." Ok, stupid.

So you use a fixed exe for Bon Voyage. It'll work perfect. If you try and use it for say, Seasons, there will be many glitches as it does not know you have installed Bon Voyage or not.

To fix any of these problems, ONLY use a fixed exe for the LATEST expansion pack you HAVE. Not any older ones or the original TS2. If you need any more clarification, reply. Cause this is a complicated thing. And that EA is stupid and can't tell everyone this.

Perhaps, your disc is damaged. Try copying all the files off of it manually; do you get a read error? If so, get a replacement from the publisher.
