View Full Version : Myth of Bioshock
Hello to every1..if is truth after 5 intalls the game of Bioshock Doesn´t work anymore?
Sorry x my bad english :(
5 activations, not 5 installs.... its 'myth' too btw
each time you activate, the activation count goes down
if you want to install on another pc, uninstall (which revokes the license and increases the activation count by 1)...
now, before anyone gets ideas, the max activations is 5, so repeated uninstalling wont make it any more than that...
if you reach your 5 activations, you can contact the support team to reset your activations (giving them a good reason of course)..

For your information it's 2 activations. Once you install and contact the activation server you lose an activation, once you've done 2 you cannot activate it again. 2k games claims that you can then uninstall and in doing so it will contact the server again, thus giving you an install ticket back, but this is confirmed to be false. Either the server is in some manner broken, or 2k games simply "forgot" to add the feature to retain installs by uninstalling, but in any case you cannot activate it more then twice with the same key.
Calling them will not have your key reactivated, they will give you the registration code @ the manual activation screen and you will then be able to login. However they are currently swamped with problems and requests and you probably won't be able to have your manual activation for days-weeks.
Hope this helped.

Does anyone know this 5 installation limit apply on Steam purchased version too? From Steam game info, it said the downloaded version is already activiated, so can I, for example, to install steam on more than 5 computers and using same steam account to play? Thanx

I am not going to buy this game. This kind of protections are horrible I hate them. Affect even legal customers. If you format and re ininstall the OS (that happens a lot) then the software get useless after 5 activations is just useless crapware

Steam, as a fully electronic service for obtaining games, is a great alternative to money-hungry publishers that use physical media (CD, DVD). Also, activation gives more control over pirated copies to the developer/publisher (unless activation is removed in the pirate release, which it usually is :)). So, expect more games to be released via this - or some similar - service.

yea baby i just found my password on a piece of paper....lol! sounds fishy but the truth lol... but now i heard that u have 5 activations? is this game mine now or what? and i wont buy any game by downloading it casue i need to have something in my hands dude. Maybe it is a better protection and so but what about the gamers who have no internet or people who dont know shit about all this stuff... like me.....:confused::confused:

5 Installs sounds more to the old type of protections (no longer used) like in in some Old DOS programs like M$-Works 2.0 for DOS. Used to write something in the 5.25 diskette (asking to remove the write protection) that after some installs the diskette no longer worked well

If Steam doesn't have an online check for the game license, then it's easy to bypass Steam running ;) Tried it with Tomb Raider Anniversary. "Steam is not running" <- got over it, and played the god-damned game. Dunno about BioShock. I still am pissed cuz my PC can't handle what this game needs :D

The announced patch will bring some needed optimization. I'm wondering why the beta test department are still kept around in our days, seeing the quality of the released games.

I agree lots of games are supposed to be tested in the beta stage and in the final version are still like beta so this don't seems to serve for much

Kill all the managers and let the developers announce the release date instead, and there you will have well-tested, playable, update-not-much-needing games!
