Hey all, I'm having a few problems using the crack for Star Wolves 2.

First of all, the crack contains the "Star Wolves 2.exe" file and a "starw2.dll" file. Crack instructions tell to replace both files in the game folder. Problem is that I don't have any "starw2.dll" in my game folder initially.

Anyway so I just add it. What happens when I open the game? It does nothing for like 5 seconds, then I hear a windows-error sound. That's all. I don't get any notification on screen or something.

What happens if I play the game without the starw2.dll? It just crashes immediatly. The basic program-crash message.

I'm using the English v1.0 version, and that should be the same version as the crack.

I hope anyone can help me on this.. Thanks in advance!

First try the original disc, if that works OK then could be a bad crack!

Original disk works fine. Just worrying because for other people, this crack works fine. Also because that starw2.dll isn't there I think I forgot to do something perhaps.. an update maybe..

The only update is for the German version, English still at v1.0 I think!

The extra dll may be part of the crack, I've seen extra files in a crack before where the the original game doesn't have them.

Still not sure why it won't run, I actually don't have the game so can't try it. Hopefully someone who does have it will pipe up and tell you if their game works with the crack.

Yeah I hope that too.. I just find it weird how the game crashes.. Like 5 seconds nothing happens and then it's like *ERRORSOUND* and nothing... I believe it's the "Critical Stop.wav" errorsound of Windows XP.. (nvm it's not) If only I knew what was the problem..

Have you tried running the exe in Compatability mode? Right click on the exe, select properties, click compatability TAB and try Windows 2000 mode!

None of the compatibility modes worked. All gave exactly the same result.

Then it must be a crack compatability problem :(

I can't use the cracks for the latest patches for Star Wars Empires at War and Forces of Corruption as they just exit when run, yet other people can run them?

I have now found out that some Russian Cracks manage to play the game, however, it's impossible to read most of the text then. (it's not even Russian text, it's just.. not right.)

Also tried a german crack and a 1.1 crack. Those both crashed differently from the others. Here I get a white screen and then the regular crash message. (Probably cause I have the 1.0 version. Is the 1.1 only available in german? Can I update my English version to 1.1 and still play it?)

Basicly asking the last thing cause there are Russian 1.1 cracks.. And the only Patch I know of is German..

EDIT: Just did Minipatch & 1.1 patch. No difference.

If in doubt with cracks, use a mini/maxi image of your original. Check the FAQ's to see how to create one from your media.

I tried making a maxi image (I think, just made an image of the whole disc). Starforce blocks it saying it can't identify the disc or something >.<"

EDIT: It works now. Isn't the first time my comp fixes itself. I blame Norton.

Thanks for the help everyone.
