View Full Version : As anyone tried a Boot Disk that (safely) works with a VGA Box?

I have a VGA input on my LCD TV and I would like to plug my Dreamcast using it. Now I know that the Utopia Boot Disk won't work with a VGA Box unless it's patch, but since it's apparently dangerous to use that patch, I won't risk it.

But I was wondering, is there a safe Boot Disk out there that will do the trick (Free or Commercial, I don't mind paying)? I only have 3 DC imports, so it's not worth modifying my console just for them (all my games are originals).

Thank you

The commercial boot disc for Dreamcast is "DC-X" and it's from Blaze. You can probably get it at superufo.com, lik-sang.com or any other videogame online store.

Already Googled a lot for the DC-X, no one seems to have it anymore. BTW, Lik-Sang is long dead thanks to SONY

If you're just wanting something to boot your imports ("the_importer"), you can use a gameshark or codebreaker. Both of those should still be fairly easy to find and both work fine with VGA. I usually use a gameshark when I want to play HeadHunter (or some other import) on my US console. Of course, you could also install a modchip to make it region-free.
