View Full Version : Can't make the iso work (I HAVE THE GAME)

Alright, before I continue, I have to make this clear: I have the game. I have no desire to illegally download games, I'm just sick and tired of using the disk, and no-cd patches seem to not work that well.

Ok, now that that's out of the way:

I've created a .iso, and mounted it to a drive. When I double-click on the drive, it does nothing.

Can anyone explain this, and perhaps how to fix it? Thank you very much.

Read the FAQ a bit more about this.

.iso files cannot and will not carry the topography (a complete image of the top layer of a disc including protections) of the disc, unlike other disc image creation software which will do.

Alcohol 120%
CloneCD
etc..

Ill link to the page.

Thank Joe for the information, etc :) And if you get no-where blame him too :P

It would also be helpful to know exactly WHICH game you are trying to backup!

OH! I'm SO sorry! I completely forgot to mention it!

I'm trying to back up The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff (Don't laugh- it's my mom's)

Is there some weird thing I gotta do for it?

Follow DABHand's link, the bit about making a Safedisc mini-image and the Alcohol part too!

lol, alright. Sorry, I've had people say that I'm not a gamer because I have The Sims or something :\

Actually, I DID go to the faqs you sent me to- it actually helped me alot, especially for saving hard drive space. But, when I double-click on the drive, it just brings up the file, like if it was just "explored" in Windows Explorer. I've done Daemon Tools emulation, used BlindWrite and Alcohol 120%, and downloaded the .mds and .mdf from GCW. Is there some section of the FAQs that I'm just completely missing?

@Baulderan
When you first mount the mini image, with either Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%, a window will open (most times anyway).
The window appears to be displaying all the files which would normally be on the disc. The files are not really there. ;)

Just close the window and start the game from the normal desktop shortcut.
The mini image is just to trick the protection into thinking you have the disc in a drive. ;)
