View Full Version : Command and Conquer - The First Decade
I installed only the Red Alert series from my Command and Conquer: The First Decade DVD and applied the 3.03 TFD patch, then mounted the MINI IMAGE. The game runs fine without using the DVD, with the exception of the map editor (EDWIN.EXE) It seems to require the DVD inserted.
Can I get the map editor to work with having to use my DVD?
TIA

There are a few working mini-images available on gamecopyworld.com. You can mount them in DT4.08 and you won't use your DVD that way.
And the latest patch released by EA for First Decade is 1.02?!

That was also my thought.
But there is such a patch.
Look here:

Or just google for "3.03 TFD patch"

I installed both 1.01 and 1.02 patches for First Decade and they do not change the fact that I cannot run the map editor without the DVD.
I only installed Red Alert and add-ons which does not require the DVD if I run it from the RA95.EXE, but even if I use the mini images, I still cannot run the EDWIN.EXE without the DVD.
Anyone have the map editor working without DVD?
DONE....
I found the files needed to run the editor from the cnc link provided above.
2 files:
1. Stripped RA1 MAIN.MIX for RAED on TFD
2. C&C-RAED
Thanks for all the help.

It's an unofficial fix. See patch author. It does exist, but that's not an EA official release. Install it's at your own risk.
I'm still having trouble using the map editor (EDWIN.EXE) i don't under stand how to get it to work. Can someone HELP me.

What is the error you are receiving or what is your precise EDWIN.EXE issue?
Try copying the EDWIN.EXE as a shortcut to your desktop and right click on it and go into properties to change the target. Just add a -cd. at the end of the target path. (must have a period at the end of -cd.)
Example of my target path:
"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Red Alert(tm)\EDWIN.EXE" -cd.
