Hi all,
I'm new to the scene so don't know much. I have a single LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S which I bought sometime ago. Now there is DVD Identifier as well as quite a few other softwares. I'm sure there is something similar for CD media also. My questions are :-

1. A good software to read ATIP (or Pre-Groove) from CD
2. Is there a possibility of any damage by using this application and/or CD in the single DVD optical drive.

Thnx in advance

the atip is just data stating the disk is cdrw/cdr etc, pressed cd's/dvd's (originals) do NOT have an atip, so an atip check is simply to detect if the disk is original or not.. as for reading the atip, theres not really much info in it, just the disk capacity and dye used (which inturn can point to the manufacturer), atip reading can be tricky, some devices 'accept' generic commands to read the atip, others do not

atip = actual time in pre groove :)

now, why would u need an atip reader? as for damage, at worst a program could lock up the cd/dvd drive requiring a reboot, thats about it, or a bsod maybe... really depends on the drivers etc..

I'm sure ATIP can be read with any decent low- level CD-DVD diagnostic software (DVDInfo[Pro] for Windows and X-ATA for DOS comes to my mind).
