Hey Everyone :D.

Last Friday the wife and I bought our neighbor old PS2 for $25.00 and I have already spent $217 at EBGames on Saturday, Well $20 for a Memory Stick and $25 for a New Game Pad the rest was Games and Taxes.

I was told by the Guy there at EBGames that with the older style PS2 or the Big Version not the Slim Version that there was something I could download and Burn to either a CD or DVD and I would then insert that CD or DVD before trying to play a backed up version of a Game then the Game could be played with no problems.

This is my 1st ever PlayStation so I'm very new to this.

1. Could someone please explain to me what I need to download and from where to play these games?

2. What is a ModChip Exactly and Do I need one?

3. Is it something that gets plugged into the console like a Video Card or Sound Card gets installed into a computer?

4. Whats the Best Route to Go when trying to accomplish the above?

5. Whats the Cheapest Route to Go when trying to accomplish the above?

6. How do I tell What version of PlayStation I have, If that is Needed to be known to do the above?

Thanks to everyone in advanced.

You CANNOT download and burn anything to achieve that.
The ONLY way to play backups is by having a modchip in the unit.

Really? :(
Man that blows,... I wonder why he would tell me such a thing then.
Okay then which ModChip do you recommend then?
Is there one that doesnt require soldering for my older version PS2?

If you can reply with a url directly to it, Would Greatly Help Me Out.

Thanks a Bunch.

Take a look at that, all you need is Action Replay Max to use the MC exploit.

So technically, he is correct, i reccomend it, easiest solution. And also, to make the swap tool its pretty damn easy, you can get the schematics their, all it requires is a credit card, and some scissors and patience. If a 15 yr old son of mine can do it, honestly you should be able to.

So next time, give correct advice.

Your a Life Saver :D
I've got my Emule Running. I was able to find all the software needed. Now i just need to wait for the programs to finish downloading.

Come On FF-XII
I Love Emule.

From the looks of it because I have an older PS2 I might be able to use this 512mb USB Memory Stick I have laying around here finally.

In a Few Hours I Should Know If This Works Or Not.
Thanks again CrazH.

Only thing you acutally need to purchase is AR MAX (Action Replay) Just buy it, use it once and return it, say it never worked ;)

Crazyh, Around here we try to lead people down the correct path ;).
Most here use modchips as a alternative to wrecking the tray on the PS2 with a damn card. Say what you want, I have seen this with my own eyes. If you guys want to be cheap and use exploits to play backups then so be it, whatever floats your boat. I wont recomend it and it is far from the easiest solution. The easiest solution is to simply stick a backup in the console and play. At this point Modchips are just to affordable to be bothered with patching and swaping game. NTM wondering if its a bad burn or the boot method everytime a backup DOESNT work

I've replaced MANY drive assemblies due to the aforementioned 'card' buggering up the eject mechanisms. Essentially what you are doing is defeating the drive interlocks and brute-forcing the damn thing open - hardly something which should be 'highly recommended'.

Downloading games is not only illegal but talking about it on this forums is against the rules. I suggest you read the rules, it will keep the mods happy with you. :)
