Is a laptop with 1.6 ghz, 1gb ram, a 100gb hard drive and 256mb ram good enough for gaming?
No
At least 2.4ghz+ CPU
1GB Ram
And a decent onboard GPU that can do pixel shading etc.

It's mostly the inferior (integrated) video card that causes laptops to not meet the system requirements of many-many (modern) games.
It has a intel cenrino mobile technology with intel pentium M processor 730
AMD Turion64 X2™ Dual
Core Processor TL-50
nVidia GeForce 6100 Graphics • 8X DVD+/-R/RW & CD Burner • Wireless LAN802.11b/g • 103 key full size
keyboard with numeric keypad • 4 in 1 Card Reader • Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition • 56K Modem,
IEEE1394, USB2.0, Gigabit LAN
how about that for gaming?
Aye thats a contendor lol
So you reckon it will play all the new games easily?
Not ALL but pretty much most of them. Some games out there need at least a 6600 GPU, but there is only a few of them.
Is this good for gaming???????????????????????

(There's no need to open a new thread!)
The CPU seems to be a bit too slow for today's standards. Also, the "GO" in the video card's name is a bit suspicious - it may be the "el cheapo" version of a Geforce card and may not be compatible with modern games.
So do you reckon it will be alright with the modern games for 5 years or so?
I am getting it from acer so the graphics card should be alright.
Now this is a gaming laptop that will last a LONNNGGGGG time before needing to be changed.

But at 1500GBP it is actually a very nice price, with laptops you get what you pay for.
There is a Ferrari 1000 series at 1100GBP which is equally ok.
Also if you know someone who owns a store he can get a 20% discount.

Have you read my previous post?!
Ive had a look at some specs for the GO notebook series of GPU's and the 7xxx cards do have Shader Model 3 on them, but they arent as good as the desktop counterparts, but they should do the job but not as well.
