I know this is a hard question with lots of answers, but here goes anyway.

My old Pioneer is dying on me, and I am looking at Plextor.
I have read they are the best, even if more expensive. On the other hand, I recently read a couple of reviews that stated Plextor is slipping in the reliability department.

I would value the opinions of this group.

Thanks ! !

Plextors have always been (one of?) the most expensive. Recently, a friend of me told me that the Pioneers are the best compromise for reading and duplicating CD's and DVD's, including copy protected ones, and their price is also very nice.

I also like the Pioneers. If you look around www.cdrlabs.com you will find a review for most writers.

Plextors are pricey but still one of my fav top 2..the others are the LG lightscribe 16x or 18x (not that the light scribe is that important to me just the qualitly of the drives themselves)
Unlike the two of you that posted before me, i am not too fond of pioneer drives, even though i hear they work good for buring 360 games as well.

I was told that LG drives were the best but not anymore; Pioneers got so much better in the last year or so.
