View Full Version : Need for Speed Carbon... i really need help

first of all sorry for starting new thread......

I'm a nvidia 6200 256mb, I'm just wonderin why does every tym i activate the shader even in medium, the game starts slow its performance, really annoying..... i dont know how to fix this problem, I upddated my drivers and have the latest forceware, but nothing really happens:(

so if if some one had experienced this problem and have already do something, share me the solution, will be a great help

sys specs is:
P4 intel 3.0
1 gb ram
nvidia 6200a 256mb

i have a 7800GTX and only get around 25 FPS in v1.3, was probably only 20 FPS in v1.2 with settings maxed at 1680x1050 resolution, no antialiasing.

so first off i'd recommend upgrading to v1.3 it seems to be faster. Carbon is a very shader-intensive game, and v1.3 is more optimised. you want to disable anti-aliasing. also decrease resolution if possable. disable over-bright and rain fx. lower the update rates and road quality. see if that helps.

btw, latest drivers are

does anyone noe where to get the US ce v1.3 patch? my nfs carbon is the collector's edition and i've tried installing the US and UK ce v1.3 patch but failed. The ms dos windows just opened for like 1 sec and i think i saw sth like unable to find registry. I executed this in the nfs carbon directory but still failed.

ps: is 93.71 the latest drivers for 7300GT?

i know this might might be a little bit off topic but what does antialiasing mean?

I always saw this in game options, but never knew what it meant.

Antialiasing is smearing the edges where two different colors meet. More on it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antialiasing (Google and Wikipedia are your friends!).

Man I have exactly the same problem although I can't even read what it says in console it disappears so quick. But anyway I think that this game have too high requirements in comparision with MW. Nvidia 6200 may be too weak for it:(

Try opening an MS-DOS prompt, with the "cmd" command, and running the executable from there. Then the MS-DOS prompt will stay there and the program's output won't disappear.

Ok done, it says "PATCH Terminated by Custom Action". Does it tell something to you?

Nope, nothing. However, rest assured that your PC configuration (CPU, video card, whatever) has nothing to do with being able or unable to apply the patch. If you wanna try them all, see http://patches-scrolls.de for all patches for all games released in the past 14 years (!). And, if none of them work, you gotta contact the publisher instead.

Back up your saved games.


Uninstall game, reinstall, update to latest patch.

And why are you trying US and UK patches?

Dont you know which version you have?
