Asus P5RD1-VM and ATI Radeon X1650 PRO

i have a mobo p5rd1-vm, im planning to buy a ATI Radeon X1650 PRO 256DDR2
Video Card...I want to ask if they are compatible with one another (MOBO and The VGA)????

is there any conflict about the memory support of my board becoz it only support DDR333/DDR400 and not DDR2 533.. will ATI X1650 run in my system although it say that its DDR2 memory while my MOBO support only DRR333/DDR400....

i hope it works ....

You should ask the shop where you plan to buy this stuff. If the incompatibility is not obvious (e.g. motherboard is AGP only, the video card is PCI Express) then only experts, with a lot of experience, can tell you about such problems...!

I wanted to install a DDR-Ram 2 graphics card to a DDR-Ram mainboard
and I asked a pc technician if it´s possible.

In the following you can see the transfer rates:

DDR 333 166 Mhz 2,7GByte/s PC 2700
DDR 400 200 Mhz 3,2GByte/s PC 3200
DDR 533 266 Mhz 4,2GByte/s PC 4200


Taking everything into consideration he said it´s practicable, but the card
wont work on full-speed(-used to capacity), because of the above mentioned transfer rates.

because i've searched all the forum and even ATI's and ASUS website just to confirm this.. but their site doesn't have this kind of info....

now i can buy that card without any doubt of returning it incase of not working on my mobo because it's way too long ride going there.... 2 rides of jeepneys, 1 bus ride and 1 taxi ride.. hehehe... almost forgot 1 train ride

i was thinking, why would it? i mean having ddr2 memory should be irrelevant because it's that ddr 2 memory is independant of the motherboard (e.g. it's on the card) so why should it matter?

That´s true Luciel both things have nothing to do with each other.
The graphics card administrates itself and the DDR-Ram on the
mainboard does so.

The graphics card works independant from the cpu of the pc.
After 1 hour of investigation I came to the conclusion that this
case is for an expert or even a small genius as I can´t find any
clear explanation in the net.

I would also like to add, that you can use even a ddr3-ram graphics card
with a ddr-ram mainboard.
