last thread was posed to be regarding double agent not CT. sorry guys
so it be using securerom then? anyone know this as fact?
it's $37 at circuit city this week. vs $60 for 360
I know Prot.Stop works with it at least. Also, make sure your video card supports shader 3.0, if not it won't run.
You what???
You got to be fooking kidding? You mean those dumbasses alienated the vast majority of the gaming market by supporting only SM3.0!!! What a bunch of tossers!
You know what's coming next don't you? We'll all have to upgrade to Vista as all the developers will make Vista only games as they think we can all afford to keep changing hardware/software every couple of months to cater to their stupid idea that every gamer has a dual core, dual GPU setup!!
You WANKERS Ubisoft!!! If you think I'm shelling out hundreds of £££'s for a new GFX card (when my X850XT is running some of the latest games just fine) just to run ONE game, you can go f**k yourselves!!!
If they don't add support for SM2.0 in a future patch then I hope they hang along with Saddam!!!!

WHAT is that true? then forget that. i'll wait till sm2 support comes. there's no 1.1 like CT at least?
@cdkiller: where did you get these information from?
@cdkiller: Flaming aimed 100% at Ubisoft, not another member ;)
Hope it's true about that patch and SM2.0.

Really, Chaos Theory also had it's fair share of problems when it came out. I bought it anyways, but actually didn't play it at all until patch 1.05 and the reloaded crack came out... :-) All good things come to those who waits.

does not say in the readme that it's 3.0 only,it just says if you do not have 3.0 it will not support hdr settings.
my card is a radeon x800xt 256mb which doesent support 3.0 (it says the reason it doesent is becuase 3.0 is not funlly supported by any game and isent likley to be for a long time,so it use's some aspects of 3.0 but has a basis of 2.0 making it '2.6')
ive only just recieved this game and got those recommendations from teh readme on teh disc,i'll install later when i get home from work and i will report back wether it runs or not.
-fingers crossed-
also what you guys where saying about new games may be 'vista only'
i read that when halo 2 finally comes to pc it will be vista only.
Joe Forster/STA
06-11-2006, 07:41
I think only Micro$oft is stupid enough to make its own game (!) Vista-only. Other developers/publishers know that customers cannot be pushed this boldly to change to a new operating system (again)!

Not tried this but I am told that if you edit the line below in the Splintercell4.ini file you can use cards that have SM2.0
SimpleShader=False change to SimpleShader=True
Muyfa666
06-11-2006, 10:07
Can anyone confirm this?
ok the game crashes during the loading screen for a new game on every setting available...the menus all work fine, the hardware detect fails me on teh graphics card but passes me on everything else...which is sad as my card runs oblivion maxed out and about a year ago was one of the best cards on teh market and well ahead of its time.
im going to try the .ini file editing now..i'll report back after i tried it.
ok this is what i did..
i edited the splintercell4.ini located in c:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDA-Offline\System as instructed by penkster
and i got the same thing..crashes half way through loading a new game and gives me a error message saying 'trying set non-registered vertex shader'
any ideas people? before i take this piece of crap back to the shop?
i emailed ubisoft and got a near instant reply here it is>>>

"I understand your frustration, however there comes a time when you have to push the envelope to the next level when it comes to PC games. Splinter Cell: Double Agent is a "Next Gen" PC title.

ive just read elsewhere that it is impossible to force sm 2.0 support as it doesent have any support in the first place in the game.
it literally is 3.0 or nothing, and by the looks of things...no patch to fix it.
you think they would of learned from the last mess they made with chaos theory...lack of sales cos of starforce, the game was in the bargain bin inside about 4 months of release in most shops @ £9.99
this game is not gonna sell atall.
Muyfa666

I think that's an automated response, since I read of other ppl getting the exact same answer.
I think the hard-core fans will buy it. I know I will. In fact, I will buy both the PC and the Xbox-versions, but that's just me. I'm on the safe side with my X1900XT card.
I think that maybe Ubisoft is growing to big. "Push the envelope"? Yea sure, but that's kicking the customers in the nuts. It's nice to see something new, not just a Chaos Theory mission pack sort of speaking, but they should really turn to a wider audience than just the PS 3.0 users. :-(
Was this ever made clear when the game was being developed?
To run this game I would have to replace Motherboard, CPU, MEM and GFX, not exactly a 'small' upgrade for what is essentially a 'minority' game, and then they have the gall to say we should all be running this type of 'Next Gen' system?
They ought to have that envelope pushed up their a$$es!

Get it for Xbox instead. Problem solved... :-)
nah it costs £50 on the 360...£24.99 on pc.
im just gonna get a refund,i'll wait for 9 days..if no patch or fix (apparantly impossible) is made then i will get a refund and buy something WORTH my money.

An XBOX?
well it looks a bit better as on pc because they can fully utilize the hardware.
btw, there´s some kind of "protection-free" exe available now wich was reported as working. i doubt it´s cracked, seems like a mistake made by ubi...
yeh apprantly its the 'direct to drive' exe ...anyone finds it please upload...not that i can play the game yet :( ..lol

yeh apprantly its the 'direct to drive' exe
i doubt itīs from there because they use starforce pro active v4 or some sort of SecuROM license manager for newer games.

@khafan
If it is the real deal can you please submit it to GameCopyWorld using the following link: http://ul.gamecopyworld.com (http://ul.gamecopyworld.com/)
Thankyou ;)
The NoDVD still doesn't solve the SM2.0 (or 2.0b in my case) debacle :(
So reading their e-mail about 'push the envelope' does this mean ALL Ubi games from now on will now be SM3.0? If not, then this is just a gimmick by Ubi to help Nvidia/ATI sell their High End cards in return for a wad of cash!
They should have changed the name to SPLINTER CELL: CAVEAT EMPTOR!

it clearly isnīt a cracked securom exe... but seems like its working.
People in another forums says it is a packed exe in a cab file inside the disk! So, an Ubisoft fatal mistake? :D
jup its from data1.cab :D
Changing the entry "SimpleShaders" in splintercell4.ini to true should solve the shader 2 problems (I heard).
I cant believe Ubisoft made 2 fatal mistakes!
1. Leaving the unprotected exe in the cab file! (which is a bonus for gamers)
2. Creating a game which wont play on systems which only support SM 2.0!!
Changing the entry "SimpleShaders" in splintercell4.ini to true should solve the shader 2 problems (I heard).
Apparently you heard wrong. Check Glenbo's posts on page 1 of this thread. ;)

Muyfa666
07-11-2006, 12:26
No, sorry. I mustn't. If Ubisoft has completely left out the PS 2.0 support, the chances for those ppl to get it running is right about none. This could be the biggest bomb in Ubisoft's history.
WardoggOne
07-11-2006, 13:10
so there's not even a 1.1 option like CT? WTF ubisoft?!
No way that Ubisof will keep only Shader 3.0 supported. I think that sooner or later they will fix this mistake.

Have you read this (automated?) answer from Ubisoft?
"I understand your frustration, however there comes a time when you have to push the envelope to the next level when it comes to PC games. Splinter Cell: Double Agent is a "Next Gen" PC title.

No room for PS 2.0 in this answer... :-(
EDIT: For those interested, the V1.01 patch does not change the single player EXE, and works fine with the unprotected file.
Among other things (at a quick test) the patch adds a AA-option which looks VERY good along with HDR. :-D
Also the framrates seem alot better. This is a good patch indeed. :-)
Seems the unprotected EXE is just a loader, both Brothers In Arms games were similar too and so was FarCry If I recall right, all from Ubisoft!

hi all,
didnt think id be able to run this game with my system as the processor and mobo are pretty antiquated now. prob my grafix card that saves the day...here's my system setup :
AMD ATHLON XP2800+
ASUS A7V8X-X MOBO
1024MB DDR400 RAM
80GB SAMSUNG HD
GAINWARD 7800GS BLISS SILENT 512MB GRAFIX CARD ( EXCELLENT CARD)
ACER 19IN WIDESCREEN MONITOR WITH 8MS REFRESH
Loaded the game and applied the ubisoft no-dvd and game runs a treat maxed out. must be down to the gainward grafix card i guess.
cheers
Yep, the 7800 supports SM3.0 which the game requires. My systems not far off yours, Athlon XP 3000+ but with an ATI X850XT, this still plays some of the recent releases just fine so why drop support for SM2.0 is beyond me, unless they ported the textures straight off the 360 version and couldn't be arsed to recompile them?
Muyfa666
08-11-2006, 05:49
As of right now the game is hardly worth playing. It may get alot better with updates, but I'm not sure. I have a good rig, and I have to lower almost all settings and disable HDR, AA and whatever to get a decent framerate. Let's hope for heavy improvements in the future.
I've got Ati Radeon x600/x550? Can I start the game or not? Does my graphic card supports that Sm 3.0  or not?
Muyfa666
08-11-2006, 08:08
No, it does not. I think X1600 is the lowest that has PS 3.0.

Here's the Patch description... doesn't say to much about graphical improvements...
Descripton scda_1_00_to_1_01.txt
Splinter Cell: Double Agent by Ubi Soft Montreal - retail v1.00 -> v1.01 patch
Current Release Notes:
- This patch fixes various issues when playing online. These issues mostly concern invitations and squad features. Some disconnection issues have been treated as well.
- Some minor single-player issues have been addressed as well, especially for the anti-aliasing feature.

Anybody made a no-DVD for the patched version yet? The old no-DVD .exe replacement works fine, but I noticed that the patch changes the .exe too so a new no-DVD .exe is needed.
Muyfa666
08-11-2006, 23:10
It didn't change my EXE, so are you sure about that? I also had all the improvements of the patch with the original EXE.
MacBryce
09-11-2006, 03:06
I only payed attention to the last files of the loading queue (since I only play the versus mode) and SCDA_online.exe was listed among them.
I haven't looked for actual changes, though. I did go back to the previous version after the install since people couldn't connect properly to my host anymore when using the 1.0 no-DVD patch.

Optimummind
09-11-2006, 09:39
I can confirm that you don't need a new crack .exe to play SDDA v1.1. Just like for v1.00, you just have to mount the image thru DT v4.06, run YASU, then play.
Among other new releases like Dark Messiah, Gothic 3, and NWN 2, this is the only game where performance is good on my aging 6800Ultra and there are no game-freezing bugs.
Geee... Ok ok.. :) but you don't have to shout at me...

Seriously, I could give a c*** about single player and the online game doesn't work with YASU. I'm not going to have that DVD in there the entire day, so I need a patch to solve that.

Not many games whatsoever is playable online when cracked. It's a quite safe bet to say that you will never play this game online with anything else than the original disc in the drive.

Hi guys.
I have a mysterious problem. In Chapter 4, i must stolen a liquid from a safe in a briefing room. But when i will hack the safe nothings happend. The circles dont turn. But it works in other levels.
So i wrote to UBIsoft and they tell me that they know the bug and i should send my log and my SERIAL to UBIsoft.
So my question: Is this a trick to find out illegal game copy, because i play it with a crack from gcw.
nope, as I don't use a crack and I also have safes which won't open. Not the one you mention, but two others...

This is what worked for me. Installed the game. (this is important :) )
1. Update/patch to version 1.1 (splinter_cell_double_agent_1_00_to_1_01)
26MB.
2. Mount the NS-SCDAMI.MDS Maxi-Image in DAEMON Tools v4.06 (SPTD v1.37)
3. Activate YASU
4. Execute the SCDALauncher from ?:\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent
5. Play the Game!

Hi! I have the original game, installed the latest patch (1.02), but I cannot launch the game from the desktop! The game seems to be launching, a screen begins to open but then stops halfway and I get this error message: "Splinter Cell exe. has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The "Hardware Detection Tool" passed my system in all the tests (Pentium 4 / 3.20GHz with Hyperthreading, MSI Geforce 6800GT / 256MB and 1GB of RAM). So, if I even have the "recommended settings" why doesn't it work? Is anyone having the same problem, which has nothing to do with the 3.0 shaders issue because my graphic card has them? Thanks in advance!
