PS2 fan problem [Archive]

hi i have noticed my fan isnt working and the dvd drive also wont read disks at all. are these 2 problems linked?i opened the console and noticed the fan cable was crushed but not split. would this have anything to do with it?

I dont think the pinched fan wire has anything to do with the laser motor. Did this happed suddenly?? Does it read any media at all, CD/DVD??

I wouldn't have thought so...

I'd put the fan down to a blown mainboard ('PS') fuse. As for the laser, it could be anything varying from the ribbon cable being loose, a blown BA chip if a mod was attempted and failed, or just a plain old, tired laser...
