PS2 ver5 and ver7.....

i have a ver7(39001) PS2. i am having issues with it. Is the ver5 PS2 have the same internal parts so i could swap parts as needed?

V5s commonly use the 'open face' Type-R Sanyo laser unit, as do many V7s. Providing the laser units are the same, go ahead and just do a straight swap.

However, if they aren't identical, you'll need to put a modchip onto the v5 board, and then run the PS2 Laser Changer Utility (Cant remember the exact name) in order to get the board to accept your laser type.

first i was gonna swap over the Ver5 DVDdrive to my ver7 to see if that books up the game. If not then i was gonna remove the modchip and install it on the ver5 model.
