Hi folks,
Yeah this is an old game. I got it bundled with a video card a couple of years ago and never played it. Just fired it up. It's the "Euro OEM" version, which has bmt.exe dated 16/06/03. It doesn't need a crack - ProtectionID says it only has a CD check, and I've made a mini-image to get past that.
But it needs the files in \Media (mainly .wmv files, plus a couple of movies). I've tried copying the \Media folder to the game dir, and also to $gamedir\Data, and neither works. I've also tried dumping its contents straight into $gamedir\Data, and that doesn't work either.
Does anyone have any other ideas? Those of you who got it working seem to have just copied it straight into the game dir, which is the obvious choice, but this version seems to work differently. If anyone has come across this before, please let me know.
If all else fails, I can make a maxi-image, zero out the big .cab file and then use windoze to compress it. That should work, but it'd be a lot simpler if I knew where to put the \Media folder. The registry entries all point to the game dir and its subdirs, none of them points to the CD (even the one called MusicPath).
Ho hum. Any help appreciated.
Oh btw, anyone cracked Darkstar One properly yet ...?
