Hi, I was wondering if someone could give me step by step directions on how to make a working copy of this game.

I copied all the discs using nero and installed the game from the copied discs, however, when i go to play the game all that comes up is the splash screen.

I since dloaded daemon tools and curerom but dont know how to use them.

If someone could tell me what I should do Id be greatful, thanks.

Read the forum FAQ for guides on how to create your own mini/maxi/full images (nope, Nero will definitely not work with copy-protected games!) and backups and on how to use already existing images, cracks and CD hider programs. You can also try using the SEARCH button, to find other threads related to this game and grab some more information from those, too.

I used the search button first, nothing came up for this game.

Can you link me to the specific faq that would help me out?

Ok, I made the mini image w/ alcohol and mounted it then went to start the game off of the copied image but all i still get is the splash screen.

Beginning with version 4.5 Safedisc protected titles can only be started with a full or maxi image (maybe this should be mentioned in the FAQ).
You also have to use an anti-blacklisting tool like Pr0t.St0p, to avoid detection of your optical IDE drive(s).
Maybe you also have to change the 'installation path' in registry (or reinstall from mounted image).

- Create a full image with Alcohol 120% using Safedisc or Safedisc 2/3 profile (if necessary you can try THIS (http://www2.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/daemonhelp.php?helppage=15#fastdump) method to speed up the skipping of the SD typical defective sectors)
- Mount image in virtual drive of DT 4.03* or Alcohol 120% and use Prot.Stop (explained in FAQ)
- Start the game

* if using Daemon Tools, deactivate Safedisc emulation, there is a bug in the x86 version which avoids gamestart even for mounted images

The actual name of "protstop" is "Pr0t.St0p", with a dot inside and zeros for O's. (You could've found it if you had read the FAQ through which wouldn't be a bad idea anyway...)

i GOT it to work.

2 questions

Why wont the game work without protstop

and I cant download the patch required to play online for some reason, it says file not found.

Pr0t.St0p hides the virtual CD/DVD drives from the copy protection; without it, the copy protection will find out that the game is being played from a copy, not an original.

What patch can't you download? Exact URL, please.

Never mind, I found on the internet and installed it that way.

How does the copy protection determine Im playing the game from a copy?

Pr0t.St0p hides the virtual CD/DVD drives from the copy protectionYes, but this is only important for Securom (i think since Version 7.11), not for Safedisc (yet). More important is the fact, that optical IDE drives get hidden. If Safedisc finds a optical IDE drive it refuses to run in Daemon Tools' virtual SCSI drive.

@THE GOOD GUY
HERE (http://www2.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/t7576-scsi-blacklists-or-why-some-perfect-images-wont-run-with-daemon-tools-v4.html) a good summary.

Oh lordy.

There is some websites out there that give out specifics on how copy protections work and how its technically impossible sometimes to copy a disc.

But please do search on the net before asking 20 questions at a time. hehehe

Can i put the image on a data disc and mount the image form the disc into daemon tools and play it that way? or does it only work if the image is on the hd?

yup u can burn the image on the disk as a data file, then mount, it'll (most likely) be considerably slower however

I have found a solution to those who get defeated after 3 minutes in Battle for MIddle Earth 2. I tried to play with my brother on lan and i also got defeated after 3.3O minutes. I have noticed that if I run the game, not from the installation folder, but when you mount the iso file (5.4O GB), and go on autorun, it worked just fine. The only problem is that now it takes up to 1O Gb space on the computer:S. I hope it works for everyone.Write me if not. Maybe I can help you.
