Painkiller on LAN

Hey there... Okay my best mate is staying here for a week & I noticed he has Painkiller on his laptop & asked him when he bought it & has he tried it online so I figured hey we both have that game I like it online why not he & I play via LAN? Well we get this weird message when trying to join a game whichever oe of us made the game we see "Error the key is invalid according to GameSpy?" Something like that...? What's that all about? I know we both legit copies & sure we use a fixed EXE so we no longer have to use out CD's.. or whathaveyou... Could that be it? Should we try getting the original exe that was backed up & get it running?

I mean it made no sense hen I saw the Gamespy thing being involved when we are LAN not over the net? Any help please??

Well before I did the 'patch' so I wouldn't have to use the CD's anymore it worked Via online but never had anyone to test LAN with. & Now that he'll be here for awhile we wanted to just kick each others butts, or even bots.... Only problem with possibly returning to our old exe's is that he can't exactlly go home to retrieve his cd.... his soon to be X is not liking the idea ... :confused:

Uhm, not having the original CD around is an offense against forum rule #1...

Well buddy, I would recommend you to install the latest patch (I think it's v1.64 or so) and use my crack, which also can be found on gamecopyworld... I tested it for LAN, but it's a long time ago since I created that crack so I don't know if I deleted the master server routines....
