Hey there,

I recently tried out the civ 4 nocd patch for 1.61.

It works perfectly and saves me the trouble of constantly swapping CD's in and out. However there does seem to be one bug. For some reason it makes all the trees and most of the terrain improvements invisible. Why would this be? At first I thought maybe it was a choice by crack writer to improve FPS but it's really not that intense a game, graphically, and there doesn't seem to be anywhere to turn this setting off.

Can someone please explain if this is a bug or functionality?

If it is a bug is it one that everyone else is getting as well? Or is it just me?

Thanks,
Kutuzof

Try without a crack, check video drivers. Read the forum FAQ.

With the original CD and the CD in the tray it works fine. All the trees and stuff are visible and the video drivers are all up to date.

Only when I switch to the nocd version does it happen to me. The same thing happens on my friends PC with his version

Let me guess, are you using the trymedia version of the game?

Do you mean a trial version or something? How can I tell if it's a try media version? It's a fully bought and paid for version with the legit cd key

As far as I can tell I'm not. What difference would this make? Is the issue the crack is assuming a different file structure and not finding certain resources?

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

The no-CD patch for the retail version may not work properly with the "digital download" version. Also, you don't get support for "digital download" versions, as the latest forum rules explicitly state...

It's not a digital download version. I've got a legit CD right here. I'm in Canada, so is it possible that the Canadian version was different somehow? It's not a downloaded version. I have here the box and the original CD and everything.

(I'm not accusing you of using warez... "Digital download" versions are also legal: you download an encrypted big package from a site for free and decrypt it with the key you get when you actually purchase the game.)

Oh no no sorry. I wasen't thinking you were accusing me of using warez. But it's definitely not a downloaded copy.

I tried using the 1.61 patch for win2K and that seemed to work. I'm running XP but it worked and it didn't get rid of all the trees.

It just crashed trying to load, but that may be because I was saving and loading over and over again trying to mess it up. I think if I'd just played normally it would've worked.

Cheers,
