i do feel my life lines are fast running out:(
i looked on clone cd and the sub cannel boxes are NOT gray i ticked both like you said, could this be a glimmer of hope :) if not do i really have to buy a new cd writer is there no other way of getting around it,if not will it work with cdrwin if i delete the cracked one and download it again?if it will could ya run though it with me never done patching before
How about keeping all this chat in one thread, instead of posting seperate, disjointed, meaningless messages
I was also going to ask you to do it in one thread.
I'm reasonably confident of CDRWin (without patching) for Ridge Racer V if all your other conditions are good. I'm also confident of CloneCD with the revised settings I gave you if your other conditions are good.
Are you UK based?.

hi charlie i tried the settings you said and it worked. only thing is i then tried to do crazy taxi it came up error when burning about 46%,is this because it needs patching , if so
1) HOW?
2)clone/cdrwin?
3)how do you know which patch to apply?
4)how do you know which games need patching?
5)is it true you carnt make backups with dvd-rom on them?
i know im asking a lot here m8 but you are the main man with the know how :)
So, that's good news and another challenge. In these cases, we'd need to know the error that was reported and the burning speed you were using (it was 1x wasn't it with a demo copy). Also, how is the burner connected to the PC? On the primary IDE channel or the secondary?
Generally, burning errors are caused by buffer under-run or burning too fast on crap media. So what else was running on the PC? Or was the burner sharing the IDE channel with the HDD?
There is no burning error that necessitates patching. That depends on the game and its behaviour on the PS2, which it hasn't yet reached.
Patching:
1) HOW?
ANSWER: Tutorials on www.ps2ownz.com & www.psxcopyworld.co.uk
2)clone/cdrwin?
ANSWER: For patching - CDRWin. But change your burner and use CloneCD
3)how do you know which patch to apply?
ANSWER: By reference to the databases on ps2ownz or megagames
4)how do you know which games need patching?
ANSWER: Ditto to (3)
5)is it true you carnt make backups with dvd-rom on them?
DVD games can be copied to produce backups using Primo DVD that boot with the NEO2.2 chip
So, hoiw did you make out? Has it remained pear shaped?

its going very well m8 thanks to you :) only thing is i carnt back up dvd rom games and as you already know most ps2 games are dvd-rom is there any software i can download to over come this? or is the only way is to buy a dvd-writer?
I'm pleased it's working out OK. To rip DVD games to CD, the complete works are to be found on ####://www.ps2ownz.com. The rsult generally works if you've got the time to invest. SimonBradley did it from scratch the hard way and decided to get a DVD writer.
I followed Sim's fortunes and decided not to rip but to get a DVD writer instead. If you get that far, let me know.
