I had the same problem with Stronghold 2 patch 1.3.1. In the end, I just had to disable the IDE channel of my dvdrom drive in Device Manager. It's weird but that did the trick. What game are you trying to run ?
I'm trying to run Winning eleven 9 liveware evolution.

Is that a pc game ? It comes up as a PS/2 title on Google. And if it is a PS/2 game, does it really use S7 ?

I have seen a usb to ide 2,5", 3,5" 5,25" hard disk and CD DVDRW adapter @ ebay.
Maybe this helps with all the starforce protected games an generally with all the unplugging work u have.:)
Here is the US-Link

Go to Device Manager and disable any ide channel (primary/secondary) that has an optical drive on it (dvdrom/cdrom/writer). Ofcourse if you also have your main hard drive on the same channel as an optical drive (for example hard disk is Master and writer is Slave on Primary) then you have to move the optical drive. By disabling the ide channel, Securom won't find the drive. If Securom finds any ide optical drive, it will insist that you use that one instead of any virtual (scsi) cd drive. You could also try disabling the optical drive itself in the device manager, I haven't tried that.
This "trick" once used to work for Starforce too, but they quickly closed that loophole. I couldn't get Stronghold 2 1.3.1 to work with any version of Securom Loader, AntiBlaxx or CureROM. I was a bit surprised that disabling the IDE channel did work. It may or may not work for your game, just try it out.
