My son's getting a new PS2 today. What modchip should I order for it?

You can't go wrong with Matrix Infinity or DMS4 SE

MI is very stable and a good up-to-date chip
DMS4 is better if you are planning on using a HDD, as it has an updated "hdloader" which is compatible is most games

Or a Crystal chip 1.1. Which will do everything they will do and can play online backups :)

Do you think I should wait for the crystal chip 2.0 to come out or is the crystal chip 1.1 (lite) compatability superior to most? We probably won't be using the PS2 for online stuff but I'm not too sure about getting a harddrive. Also do I need anything other than the chip to play backups?

I ask that becuase it says something about DVD+/-RW requires the optional "F" wire and I'm not exactly sure what thats for or if there might be something other than the a chip needed.

I currently use the old CC 1.0. If all you want to do is load backups then this the 1.1 or the Matrix infinity would be a great choice.

Do all of these chips convert to and from ntsc, eliminating the need to do conversion backups?
