However, I was wondering if it is possible to burn a downloaded movie to DVD and if so will DVD Shrink, DVD X copy Platinum or Nero do it.

You mean you're using some kind of pay-per-view service for downloading/watching movies? If so, can't you download the movies in DVD format? What format do they use?

Scan the movies with GSpot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot), that will tell you the container format and the codecs the movies use.
