Hi, I want to reduce the file size of GTA 3 to 1 CD. I have replaced the two intros with no-intro files, and I have pre-cracked the game which also reduced the overall size by a meg or two. Currently the total size of the disc is 765megs, I want to reduce this to 700megs. I was thinking of reducing the quality of the radio stations, would it be possible to convert the .wavs to MP3s and still run them as they would normally?

Mods/Admins, feel free to delete this thread. I managed to figure it out without removing any files or reducing the quality of anything. You'd think Rockstar would do this, as it would have saved them millions in cd costs. I'll post a guide on how to do this tomorrow.

Why do you want to convert it to just one CD? Why dont you just convert the game to a DVD? That way it is still on one disc. ;)

P.S: Your post is in the wrong section. I have moved it to the 'General Gaming' forum as it does not belong in the 'PC Games' backup forum and it really does not fit into the CD2DVD category either. ;)

The reason they are wav files is this, mp3's require extra processor time to decode them to a wav standard in memory to play, doing this would cause a little pause in the game somewhat on lower spec machines.

So with wav's they just play straight away for those people.
