Hey guys,

I want to upgrade my comp and I am looking for a mainboard with a pci-e slot. I've heard that there are some mainboards with nForce chipsets that can bypass the Starforce protection. Can someone give me the exact names of these boards? Please answer only if you own a mainboard of this kind yourself and if you know for sure that it works.

Thanks.

T.D.

MSI RS-482IL, ATI RadeonXpress 200 chipset.
Works perfectly with a simple device manager disabling of CDs. Tested upto SF version included with POP2T.

Mmm..I guess you can see some porno in it, but for me it looks like some fight scene taken from UFC where the guy mounts the opponent to beat the shít outta him (RLD on top, totally smacking SF up).....but maybe it's just me:D

hm...so there are other chipsets than nForce that work too?

You are sure that it has nothing to do with your other components?

Absolutely certain. Its all to do with one of the bridges. Basically, when SF was written they dissasembled the current generation of hardware and wrote hacks to re-enable CD drives that had even been disabled in the BIOS. The later Nforce & ATI chipsets were not available at that time, and so they have not yet written a hardware re-enabling hack yet, but it will come.....
(All of the other chipsets were either available at the time or are direct sucessors to the previous versions)

Go to the DT forums & discuss it there.

Hi,
I own a mobo with nForce3 250Gb chipset (although it comes with an AGP slot) which support AMD Athlon 64 socket 754, and I already played Price of Persia: The Two Throne without unplugging or disable anything. I just mount the image (MDF made with alcohol 120%) and mount it using Daemon Tools 4. I think nForce3 or nForce4 had and IDE controller which confusing starforce drivers, but still, I had to use Starforce Nightmare to play Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory. I'm sure there's a lot of mobo maker who make nForce3 or nForce chipset. just find your own brand.
