I've just seen no cd cracks for Hammer and sickle which is Starforce 3.5 and Ufo: Aftershock which is starforce 3.6 . I own both of these games and never expected a no cd crack that I didn't have to disable my cd drive for which defeated the convenience. Have they figured SF out or what?

No they havent. They can only to starforce to a certain reasonable extent. This has been answered before. Search around.

caki: You must be the most negative person I've ever seen on the SF-topics. Obviously, Reloaded seems to have some clue about how to fix some of the StarForce protections. Yet, I've seen u complain that they have no clue at all. Seriously, are you on the StarForce Developer Team?

I have no clue no what extent, but they have released working cracks for a fair share of SF-protected games. And that's fact. So they haven't broken the hardest versions of SF yet - yea, but they have still figured out SOME versions of it.

@Muyfa666: Perhaps, caki is more knowledgable, when it comes to Starforce, than you (or, for that matter, me and most members of this forum)...

Mufya666, I'm not going to lie to you, I don't know that much about SF, since my interests lie in other directions...

I do however know a couple of things that you should get straight:

These days protections have different levels. The producers spend more cash, they get better protection. Sometimes, the developers have to add the protection features themselves (SDAPI). A well implemented SDAPI (Black and White 2 1.0) is a pain in the ass to crack, while a badly implemented SDAPI (Civ4 1,09) is a 5 min. job. Same thing with starforse. If badly implemented, it takes a simple NOP to get rid of it, you don't even have to go to ring 0. A well implemented Starforce will take a llllooooooooooooonnnggg time to crack. In the end, it depends on the developers on how easy it is to crack the game (In SDAPI's case, dunno who implements Starforce).

Starforce and Safedisc version numbers dont mean shit anymore dude. You gotta get a debugger and see how the protection is implemented in that rls before you can decide if these guys really understand the protection. I admit, RLD is a 100 times more skilled than me, and I am not one to judge their skill. However, looking at their releases I beleive they understand Starforce, they just can't crack the harder versions in a timely manner.

As for me to be a part of the SF team, I think I would be honored if I was able to code something so great, but I can't, and I am not part of their team. You will just have to take my word for it ;)

PS I never said RLD has no clue. NEVER. I'm extremely impressed with their work and dedication so far. However, they have yet to produce a method to crack these harder SF games in a timely manner.

To make a long quote short: This was my point (even if I possibly could have made that clearer), They have cracked SF, but only the easy ones. It's still SF even if its an easy "version". I've taken this as far as I can. Let's all agree to disagree, ok?

Also, my humble (read: none!) knowledge about how copyprotections work doesn't mean squat. So yea, in the end - you are right, and I'm almost completly wrong. But easy SF is still SF. That oppinion I won't budge from... ;-)

Ring 3... does that exist? Or am I out of the discussion?

Muyfa! LOL These are not the "well" known Rings. Its not the "Ring" that you are probably taking it for. Maybe its not wise to fill everyone with stuff they won't need. Maybe its better for you to just know that each time you do something on your PC, even when you do nothing, there are rings on your PC where 1s and 0s visit back & forth :D
