Dunno if any of you remember my post from a couple of week ago,my PS2 refused to boot disks from reset instead it kept going to the browser screen. This problems now gotten worse, it only boots PS1 & PS2 originals 2 times out of 3 now and a brand new AR2 disk I bought won't boot at all. Before booting originals the laser seems to struggle reading the disks, it makes all sorts of wierd clicking noises.I've been informed by a local MOD chip fitter that it looks like a faulty chip installation but I thought it more likely a problem with the laser(what with it struggling to read originals). The thing is my machine is supposed to be guaranteed but the firm I ordered it from is refusing to answer my E-Mail or phone calls(If they dont answer within the next 5 days I'll post their web address so nobody else gets stung by them).Just wondering anybodys views on whether this is more likely the chip (NEO 2.2) or the laser as this local fitter won't have anything to do with a laser problem & I'll have to send it to a specialist for repair.

M8,

its seems to be a modchip problem, have you tried playing a music cd?? if it plays that then the laser unit is fine. Unless you have dropped your machine then i would send your system back for them to check the chip, these things do happen.

Cheers

When you first reported the problem, we gave you a wealth of information for the modchip fitter to examine. Has this been done? Has a substitute chip been put in? Has the chip been removed and the behaviour of the PD2 noted?

It really is time for you to take these steps

Thanks for trying to help guys. Until now I haven't let the fitter open my PS2 up(as it would invalidate the guarantee that I SUPPOSEDLY have). I've sent 6 E-mails to the firm I bought it off and waited over a week, but still no reply so I've decided to get it repaired locally. The machine was only 3 weeks old when it stopped working so I'm pretty gutted at having to pay to have it looked at when I bought it ready-chipped with a 12 month guarantee!
The place I bought it is WWW.VIDEOGAMECOMPANY.COM so if who reads this is thinking of buying anything from them , my advice is DONT BOTHER, their after-sales service seems to be non-existant.
Hopefukky now I'll have it sorted by the end of the week.
