Hi There,
I have tried to read through as much of the rules as i can but don't have a lot of time. I'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to computers, electronics, etc...etc...but i'm certainly no expert. I have a 11 year old little brother who loves to spill things on his discs, etc..etc... Case in point..christmas day he gets Civ4, by the 27th it had grape jelly on the disc. I found this and thought i might inquire ... it seems that it is okay to use tools that will allow him to play his game without having the retail disc in the slot.... what's the best way? I saw that this might require something like Daemon tools and alcohol 120 but i'm not sure. He has a ton of other games, but i figured i'd try and solve his Civ4 problem before anything else. Thanks, and flame me if i've just violated some rule i shouldn't have :-)!

1. Install Civilization IV
2. Update to Version 1.09
3. Download the crack for V1.09 from HERE (http://m0003.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_civilization_4.shtml)
4. Store the original cd/dvd in a safe place

Thanks for the response, i'm not sure that will work for his example b/c he has already installed the update 1.52 or whatever it is. After I solve this problem (with help obviously :) ) I want to find a solution that will work for a larger number of his games

if you download the no/cd file for the game you need and mount it in deamon tools should work fine, and for other protections there are programs to get round that on this site

@ajay: There (link above) is a real crack available. So you don't need to mount anything.

Does the english Nocd crack also fit for the german version for the game? If not, where do i find the german no cd crack for version 1.09 or 1.52?

Does the German game use Safedisc for the copy protection? I know the German version of Civ3 used Laserlok.

If so, try downloading and installing the v1.52 patch on the German game, replace the EXE with the original one if you are using a crack in case the patch needs it!

If the patch installs without any errors then you can use the English v1.52 crack, if not then you're out of luck until a crack is made!

*EDIT* Yes! You can use the English v1.52 NoCD on the German version! I just downloaded the German v1.52 patch from the German Civ 4 website and then Hex compared the English patch and the German patch and they are IDENTICAL! So you can use the English v1.52 crack as the patches are the same!
