Are PS2 controller and memory card independent of format & region?

Hi,
I want to know whether PS2 game controllers (game pads) and memory cards are specific for a geographic region and format? The reason am asking the question is that I bought PS2 in US (NTSC format) but when I go back to UK (they have PAL format there), will I be able to buy a new PS2 controller and memory stick in UK and use it with my console?

I know I have to mod my system to play PAL games back home but can I use the local game controllers & memory stick?

Controllers and Memory sticks from the US will work fine with your UK console and vise-versa. Hope this helps... :)
