Hi, i'm trying to get my San Andreas to work properly without the disc, and have applied the crack from Hoodlum. It works fine, but I can't get the crash fix to work. Can someone explain point no. 4 in the readme file?:confused:

1. Unrar.
2. Replace gta_sa.exe with our fixed.
3. Open gta_sa.reg with a Text-editor
4. Replace the String 'Documents and Settings' with the one on your system
language.
5. Run gta_sa.reg.
6. You may need to restart your machine.
7. Fire up the game.

C'mon, text editor, search and replace function. If the "C:\Documents and Settings" directory on your Windows system is called "Z:\MyDocs&MySets" then do replace the former with the latter in the text file.

The crash fix applies to Windows XP and having something like periods (dots) in your user folder name in 'Documents and Settings'.

They want you to point to the location of the 'Documents and Settings' folder on your machine, usually it's 'C:\Documents and Settings' if XP is installed on drive C: so you just put in the location of your 'Documents and Settings' folder on your machine, but only if using XP!

EG.

"Gtasasav"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\Gtasasav"

would point to drive C: being the location of the folder.

But if you have intalled XP on drive D: then it would be:

"Gtasasav"="D:\\Documents and Settings\\Gtasasav"

Note that you have to put 2 backslashes \\ in the reg file instead of 1 when entering path names.

I also think you may need a folder creating in your 'Documents and Settings' folder called Gtasasav.

Personally, my GTA:SA saves are located in 'My Documents' folder and not 'Documents and Settings'.

I've also completed the main mission of the game, now I can cheat as much as I want :)

Hey BarryB.
I tried doing what you wrote, but when I try to save the game, it keep saying "Save Failure" :confused:

What I am doing wrong?

Do you actually NEED the crash fix? Was your game crashing or not saving originally when using the NoCD crack? Where ARE your save games located?

Try looking in your 'My Documents' folder for a folder called 'GTA San Andreas User Files' and modifying the REG file to reflect the location if that folder exists.
