View Full Version : Protection Matrix Path of Neo?
Gamecopyworld say that it's protected with securom 7.12 but my original dvd has 7.17 and infact I can't run it with maxi image of gcw...it say "security module etc..." with antiblah, antiblaxx and sr7stop.
I have change compatibility to win200 but it don't start
how to start it?
With the maxi-image try this..
Mount image with daemon, close daemon from taskbar (make sure you had all emulation on) when closing say yes when it says do you wish to keep emulation options running..
Next run, Antiblaxx 1.18 (the new one) select the game exe, and manually select Securom from the protection list.
Start the game with antiblaxx (run game option)
If it fails to even run then, also use one of the many Securom 7 tools out to hide daemon tools driver.
DABHand I Did what you said but I keep getting the message:
"Emulator detected, please disable emulator"
I didn't use antiblaxx because it does not work well for me, instead I used both sr7 once and also antibleh.. but it still won't work.
By the way the game is patched.. v.1.01 US Vers.. so that might have something to do with it.

Hey I join in your thread, its happans to me too after I done the patch of the 1.01.
please help us.
I'm having the same issue. After updating to patch 1, I can't get it to work without uninstalling everything like alcohol and damon tools and using the original dvd.
the patch updated securom in some way. Even after reverting, I've got bits of the newer securom and can't play.
damn it, I really need this patch to play...
I tried all the possible combos of the securom software and nothing work.

Well guys, I just noticed that the alcoholclone version released a few days ago has multi-language support (the only release for this game), which leads me to believe that this might be the EUROPEAN version.
And the patch is for the US RETAIL version.
So I think its not that it updates securom, it just might not be the correct game version.
So someone should release the US RETAIL version of this game, or atari should release the euro patch.
Does anyone have the retail us version to confirm if the US version has multilanguage?
I'm not sure what you mean about released alcoholclone, but after I had applied the patch on my system, I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled it to try to be able to play with an image and it won't work anymore, even unpatched.
The issue is that Securom now sees daemon tools or alcohol and nothing you can do will cloak your emulators from it. anti-blaxx, anti-blah, sr7.stop, etc. it still sees them.

Oh yeah, and denying it read access to the MountedDevices key just makes it refuse to even try to validate the cd.

Well i instaled the patch and the game stoped working. But when i reinstaled the game without the patch it started working again. Also about the patch, it does patch all language version of the game (it patches the french, spanish, chinesse and other what not files) so i dont think its a US only patch.
This is strange, I will have to dig deeper to figure out why I can't even play unpatched now.
Well...
I'm really a n00b... So don't know a thing about this :P But i know it's not working...

Perhaps before thinking your smarter than most, you can digest this information before calling everyone a hypocrit..
1. People have the originals, no warez support is here, your so good im sure you read the rules first didnt ya, no? ouch
2. People use various Image making utilities to help play the game without using their originals, thus prolonging its life. This isnt a warez issue, so whats hypocritical about it?
3. Why they want their games in prestige condition? Perhaps they wish to sell it later on when they are bored with it, people are more inclined to buy a good condition game rather than one with scracthes on the surface. It is a simple fact of the matter.

Can anyone on the boards run Path of Neo with the 1.01 patch installed using their backup? (via daemon, alcohol and sr7 or anti-blaxx) ? If so post how.

I have yet to confirm this, but there are 2 ways to make it work with the patch:
1) The more obvious method, and several users confirmed this to me. You just need to REBOOT after applying the patch. I know its dumb, but maybe you forgot to.
2) Before you patch the game, copy/backup the file MATRIX3W325.BIN. Then update the game and then overwrite the newer MATRIX3W325.BIN with the older file you previously backed up.
Try it and let me know.

1) Rebooting doesn't do anything.
2) Keeping that file does let you keep playing the game after you've patched it, but it seems that that file is the biggest change of the patch, as the game runs exactly the same as before the patch (still have textures turning white, black characters, framerate issues, etc) and the game still won't save control configs etc. etc. etc.
The old file is like 6 megs and the new one is 8 megs, so that's where a lot of the changes are kept. If you replace that file you might as well not even patch in the first place.

Also, if you want your settings to get changed, its simple, locate the matrixconfig.ini file, right-click it and un-tick "read only". You'll be all set.

I' am not so sure about this because firstly keep in mind the patch was 50+ megs, the bin difference is 2 megs. Secondly for the game to work when the .bin was replaced indeed means that certain new protection algorithms or subroutines must have been within this file... or another file dependent on this file as Legend pointed out.

If you watch the patching process, you'll see that 99% of all the patching is done for all of the different languages, and I think that's where most of the 50 megs are.
It is true that the BIN file contains the copy protection, but that doesn't mean that's ALL it contains. Tons of games have .EXEs that contain both the copy protection scheme and many functions of the game itself.
Put it this way... if that BIN file doesn't affect anything other than the copy protection, then it's the worst patch ever created, because not a single thing in the list of fixes for the patch is fixed.

Yes its possible the bin contains other things. Looking at the other files it seems much of the game information may indeed be in this file. A good way to test this is for someone to install the patch and watch the directories as the patch is patching and seeing what files besides the .bin and the language files is changed. /common/misc is a candidate.
Unfortunately I don't forsee anyone releasing a fix to this problem because most people believe (especially the crackers) that an image works for all patches... but this is simply not true. In other words... don't hold your breath.

hey,

I have the unpatched version.
I installed daemon
-mounted the image
-all emulation options on
-exit daemon
-clicked yes on leave on emulation options enabled
Opened Sr7.stop_1.0
-click hide
-quit sr7.stop
I start up PON and I still always get the error
"Original disk could not be found or authenticated"
Is it also the same with you that the Matrix3W32S.bin keeps on autorunning and autorunning to start up the game until it almost freeze your pc?
I can each time click an "ok" button after i get the "Original disk could not be found or authenticated" error, but it keeps on comming back.
Once I got into the game after clicking ok, I changed resolution and stuff, got trown out and since then never got back in...

No unpatched game, I stil have the 1.0 version so the 1.01 patch can't be the problem.
I used the neo-mini as image
Ok Ok, youve confused me..
Unpatched, all you have to use is this..
Sr7Stop
Daemon Tools
(When installing daemon tools you have to rename the bus drivers during install... Then after installing you enable all emulation and mount the image, go back and goto the same option for mounting an image, at the bottom you will see properties. Goto this and change the top 3 options, Vendor, etc to something else.
After which you run sr7stop, then close daemon tools from taskbar saying yes to keep emulation running. It should play this way.
Or you can try Anti-Blaxx.)

Thx for the quick answers.
I thought the problem was with renaming the busdrivers, becaus that was the only thing I hadn't tried.
I reinstalled daemon, renamed busdriver. Renamed those 3 options you were telling about (also did that before the reinstallation)
but still nothing...
I already tried anti-blaxx earlier this day, but also with no result

To get this to work with the patch using only the game mounted in Daemon Tools and some registry modifications:
1. Find the 'Scsi Port #' key under HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SCSI\ that corresponds with Daemon Tools (look at the Driver key for the Daemon tools driver name.) Either change the permissions to Deny everything for your user or group, or change the Driver value here to anything else. (Securom will look up the driver in another part of the registry so it doesn't fool it if you're not using the default Daemon Tools driver name.)
2. Find HKLM\System\MountedDevices and locate the registry key that corresponds with your virtual drive. For example: \DosDevices\G: is mine. Rename this key to anything else such as \DosDevices\G:.backup. Make sure that you do not deny any permissions to MountedDevices, otherwise Securom will indicate that a security module couldn't be activated.
3. Find HKLM\SOFTWARE\D-Tools and change the permissions to Deny everything.
If you still get the message about a security module that couldn't be activated, either you are denying permissions to something in the registry that you shouldn't be, you have another virtual drive program that it is detected whose presence you'll need to hide, or it's complaining about some other active program. For instance, if I have Regmon or NewsLeecher open, Securom complains. Why Securom would blacklist a Newsreader I don't know.
By the way, this worked for the latest FEAR patch as well. Some of these registry changes are reverted when you reboot and need to be reapplied. The change that hides D-Tools will prevent Daemon Tools from loading so make sure it's already running and change it back as necessary.
UPDATE: If, when you installed Alcohol or Daemon Tools, you kept the default names for the drivers, you'll need to uninstall and reinstall the software. This time, choose your own names for those drivers, because Securom is hard-coded to look for the default names. I uninstalled Alcohol and reinstalled it in expert mode (minus the StarWind iScsi service), choosing some random names for the drivers. Then I took the same steps I did for Daemon Tools (this time denying permissions on HKLM/Software/Alcohol Soft instead of HKLM/Software/D-Tools) and it worked.
THE LEGEND
13-11-2005, 16:58
Can anyone confirm this method?
Also, the last "UPDATE:..." part is not clear. In that part you say you will have to re-install for instance Daemon Tools and assign a new name for the virtual device, but you can change the name in step 1's registry key and also in HKLM\SOFTWARE\D-Tools, which clearly reads the virtual drive's name.
So if we re-install daemon and assign another name, then step 1 is useless, right?
Also, if we deny the premissions, do we still need to reinstall and change the d-tools driver name?
Please someone try this and answer.
Can you post a link to where you found this?

I also got it to work following those instrucstion, using DT 3.47. On step 1 I had to deny all permissions or it wouldn't work.
The deny permissions in the reg way does work.
I un-installed Daemon Tools & Alcohol 120%. I then deleted the reg entries for both under software. I also deleted all scsi port listings excluding the one(s) not related to either program - in the hardware section. Then I reinstalled 120% and ran the same procedure as mentioned above with regedit.

Do this and it will work, I GUARANTEE IT. I have tested it and it works. But its CRUCIAL that you use DAEMON TOOLS and when you install it you RENAME the virtual devices. The default names are "d347bus" and "d347prt" I think. Just rename them, and then do the 3 steps above.
To sum it up:
1. Fresh install of DAEMON TOOLS and rename the virtual drive (both names must be different from each other).
2. Go to HKEYLOCALMACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\scsi , and find your virtual device port number (there are usually 3 ports, and the virtual one is USUALLY number 3, it should read your virtual device name, if you named it "demon6", then you should see it there). DONT CHANGE THE NAME, just do the deny everything in permissions.
3. Do the same (deny everything) in HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\D-TOOLS.
4. Go to HKEYLOCALMACHINE\System\MountedDevice and rename the virtual drive letter (mine is G: for instance) to G:.Backup.
Then the game will start.
Only problem is - you lose your registrey settings AFTER a re-boot - or am I the only having this problem?
another issue with mounting the mounteddevices key... try this if you dont believe me...
if you (like me) have usb sticks/usb drives/firewire drives/network shares etc.. blocking the mounteddevices will make attaching any unit fail, so all in all messing with the registry i think is a bad idea as it could cause various system failures, anti blaxx got a lot of crap about causing system problems in the past, perhaps a lot of the blame was due to this 'side effect'... food for thought i think, if you are going to mess with your registry, make a backup first always, and if you are going to add in usb drives etc after playing the game or whatever, remember to unblock the keys ;)

To change permissions in the registry, you don't simply rename things in Registry Editor; you use the Edit/Permissions... function instead. And don't rename the "DosDevices" entries because your drives will be lost (and it won't help with circumventing copy protections either)!

I changed the scsi-Persmissions, I changed the D-Tools-Permissions, I renamed the dosdevice, I have a fresh D-Tools installation with different drivernames, .....the i mounted the Image and then I closed D-Tools and almost evrything else and tried to start the game but it always sais that the wrong DVD is insite...Sure that this way also fits to the European Version? The US PAtch doesn't....
Where do I get the patch from?
is it for the EU version too?
How big?
Maybe I'll find some trick:D

And one more thing, which may give a fresh topic on this worn out thread:
Is it me or a lot of the game textures are gone??
I remember being amazed at how good Neo, Morpheus, and (specially) Trinity's outfit textured looked on the countless screenshots posted on several gaming sites.
Now that I have the game I dont see these textures!! If you want a clear example, here is one:
On the first stealth level, when Mr. Anderson is escaping the building, just at the end Trinity is waiting for him with her motorcycle. Now, you do that level and you watch trinity's textures. Her outfit is nothing but a blocky, dull, all-black skin!!!
Where is the great texture skin we all saw on screens like this??:

Isn't there a possibility to crack this game?
The Image-way doesn't seem to work for the european Version....

@LoedD: Why don't you patch those files yourself?!
I found a post in another thread that seems to work for this SR7.
Maybe anyone can try:
fully uninstall d347,
install d4 (what surprise:cool: )
unplug all physical drives
don't use any emulation, hiding ...whatever stuff
U maybe also need to uninstall alcohol
It is confirmed yet that it works for FEAR 1.02
good luck:D

Oh, well, slow Net connection... :( Hmmm, doesn't FilePlanet or one of these very large game-related sites offer sending the files, you selected, to you on a CD, for a relatively low price?

Unplugging my all my physical drives, or making major changes to my registry is much to complicated when a nocd patch will be made soon.
How I get The Matrix: Path of Neo 1.01 working:
1) Install Daemon-Tools 4
2) Download NEO-Mini image
3) Mount the mini-image to DT4 and enable all emulations
4) Run SR7.Stop_1.0.exe
5) Play
If the game wants the CD to be under specific drive letter, then change the letters of your drives.
However, the patch seems to not fix anything... I'm still experiencing low fps even though games like Quake 4 run on high settings on my machine and their graphics are far more superior...
Why should I pay for this? I have the EU version and I'm not interisted in this patch at all!
I just want the files that cause the disc initialisation to fail, to find a way to start the game anyway.

I don't think so.
Look at the releases of all new games. Most are mini or maxi images.

I tried these steps again and again but he still wants the DVD....even with DT4 nothing changed.....

hello guys..
I have a problem..When i pressed start in the game matrix path of neo, i saw nothing, only a black screen. The game wont start...
Please help what i must do now??
I've got almost the same thing... Except that it starts flashing and I get a small black spot, like 1/4th of the screen, in my top right corner. The other 3/4th just keeps flashing and nothing happens... Anyone know what might cause this? Do I need a new video card?
Janys why do I run sr7.stop if it doesn't even see virtual drives from DT4?
Uhh, yeah... sorry, my bad. It hid Alcohol's virtual drive. So it means (and I just tested it) that I don't have to hide anything. Just pure DT4.0 emulation...
I don't think so.

It doesn't work with just D-Tools 4......he wants the damn DVD....
So my BIG question:
Is it possible to get this game to run without putting the DVD into the drive if it is the unpatched European Version ?
Or: is it possible to develop a (.EXE) Crack for this game?
If I use Deamon Tools 4 / Anti-Blaxx 1.17 and the bigger Mini-Image it just says
that the "Safety module" couldn't get activated properly....(if that is bad english I'm sorry :D )
If I use Anti-Blaxx 1.18 he just wanted the CD, so 1.17 seems to work better..(??)

I just used rs7.stop with Daemon Tools and that got the game running... Well it avoided the protections, but then the screen trips out :(

Sicherheitsmodul error just tells u that it detected an emulator (ab1.17). That means ab1.18 is better but doesn't work either.

The Image.....is that the .rar File or is it the .mds File? In other Boards it says that you need a very good .mds-Image to get the game to run....There is a mds-File in the rar-File but when I unrar it and try to mount it the Daemon Tools always tell me that this file isn't acceptable....
Hello, i was having problem to make it work on my Geforce MX 440 64MB
When it started, the game stay in a white screen, then i put an older driver (the only who works), and it really works. I change the regedit like someone posts here, and it works fine. But there is only one big problem: The chars do not appear (the patch 1.1 sad that it would fix, but didn't here), anybody could help me please?
Thx a lot.
I take it you dont have the original. If you did you would see why you have a problem.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaand what about the Image...? :D
Geforce 4mx ack..no way in hell that card will work...
Its not supported, not even the TI models work...sorry man, go pick up a Radeon 9800 or something, those are cheap these days.
The manual of the game says Geforce's MX don't works, but i made it, with this problem.. :(
Is there anythink i could do ?
Please help, i really wanna play this game.
Like I said, it doesnt support your card. There is nothing you can do, except buy a new graphic card.
This should be a hint for others, if you goto buy a game always read the minimum requirements, if not sure check online for what your card is and how old it is compared to the minimum card needed.
Buying a game cause you think it may work when it clarely states it doesnt, is like throwing money down the toilet.
I can confirm that Daemon tools 4 does not work with either 1.0 or 1.01. In fact I had 1.0 working with D3.47 + SR7 then I installed patch and tried to use DT4.... doesn't work. Asks for the DVD. I didn't unplug my CD/DVD drives though and I don't intend to.

------
To get this to work with the patch using only the game mounted in Daemon Tools and some registry modifications:
Will this work for DT4 ?

I got the game working with Daemon tools 4,
You need to go to the installation map and then right click on the exe file en then properties, after that you go to compatibility en you choose to run the game in Windows Nt 4.0 (service pack 5) , after that you mount the image in daemon tools 4 en then you simply run the game! :D
Have fun!!!
I didnt have any problem at all running mine without compatibility issues with DT4.
But as ive said, if you dont have a good image made then you will get problems.
I've got patch 1.1 working :)
Just make sure you have no Alcohol virtual drive setup (so disable it in Alcohol)
Mount image in DT 4
Use SFNightmare & click "disable CD drives"
Then it works :)

XtremeX how did u run 1.01 ? I can't get it to work ! I've got DT 4.0 all emu options on,disabled cd in SF Nightmare but it wont start, with or w/o combatibility mode.I've uninstalled alcohol 120%
Has anyone actually ran 1.01 without messing up their system ?
Mounted in DT 4
Didnt enable any emulation
Didnt even close DT 4
Turned off my Alcohol virtual drive (In Alcohol virtual drive options)
Disabled CD Drives using Starforce Nightmare 1.2
Works a dream with pathc 1.1 :)
Iīve got it work...
1) u had to istall the game (my is US Retail UNPATCHED)
2) install D-Tools (my version is 3.49). Its very important that u choose other names for the driver... (original: d347bus ; d347prt | my changes: deamonbu ; deamonpr)
3) REBOOT (deamon drivers)
4) Mount image (mini, maxi or neo). On deamon emulation choose "Securom" and "RMPS"
5) Start SR7.Stop_1.0 and press "Hide"
6) Be sure Any DVD is CLOSED <-- i never could start the game untill i closed... "Emulator found... ". Any DVD is an emulator...
7) Be sure ur Copy DVD isnīt in drive
8) Have some fun playing this game
PS: my compatiblity is set on Windows 2000
So the procedure costs me 3-6 hours... be hard... and u got it

Allright...I have the European version of the game...1.1 US Patch didn't work. European 1.1 has just been released.I ask : how can I play the game ? I have DT 4.0 and antiblah....
I think this has been the reason why some people cant play it with 1.1 patch.
The patch was for US versions, so im guessing some people with the major problems had the european version?
