I got some bugs recently (although I already had Norton) and I tried all of those free bug removal tools for 2 hours unsucessfully. One version said I had 2 bugs, but left them intact, but Grisom antivirus detected and killed trojan horse,exe and back door .sd bot and best of all Grisom was free. I just looked up Antivirus and it says 30 days free, but if you check it out AV version is free for years. I`m wondering though, I`ve read that I can`t download or copy files with the bug blocker. Does anyone know if that`s true?

If you want to spend a little cash (lets face it, you get what you pay for, what I’m saying is most of the free removal/protection programs are crap at best, oh, Norton doesn’t pay either lol) Xoftspy is a real piece of work when it comes to removing spyware. To contradict myself in the same post, run spybot or ad-aware to have some real-time protection too, because Xoftspy will only remove spyware not protect you from it:)

so why not just run ad-aware, protects, removes and contradicting you tottally, its free :)

Ok, I have obviously stepped on some code here:o

Sure run them, all I was writing was that not all of the freebies are that great and often will let spyware through anyway. I just found that Xoftspy does a wonderful job of removing the spyware those freebies miss:)

nah dont get me wrong mate ;) i mean, what you are saying is that you are recommeding x program that you have to pay for and then install x2 program which is free which does what x program did and then some, right?

Bear in mind no one program will give you 100% protection.

No not really, Xoftspy will remove the spyware those free programs will let slip through when surfing. I only recommended the free program as live protection, what I’m trying to say is, Xoftspy will not protect you while you are surfing, it only comes into play when you need to remove spyware, the spyware those free programs do not detect.

@DABhand, couldn’t agree more;)

One major mistake some people tend to do is have more than one type of security program running at the one time.

I have had to fix machines that had virii and serious spyware/malware due to the owner having either 2 or more AV's running or 2 or more AntiSpyware running.

They always conflict with each other and let things slip that otherwise may have been picked up.

this program does it all in one:

spybot,adware,spysweeper,spydoctor

anti virus as nod32 or pc-cillin

Only download hitman pro, install it, click on start and sit back.

Amazing!! :)
