"Half-Life 2: Lost Coast" is available for us, who own HL2, via steam

My question is, how do we download it

It also says it requires more than HL2

Has anybody played it, yet?

Open your "Steam" then go to your list of games. If you see Lost Coast there just click on it to D/L it. It is around 330megs. I have high speed connection and it took over 30 min. The Valve servers are slow as hell sometimes.:D

Does that mean it is only available to those who downloaded HL2 thru Steam and not to those who purchased the CD/DVD versions? I dont curruntly have HL2 installed so its not so easy to check if it is available to me as well?

Sorry I thought you said you had it on your machine, but I'm pretty sure that you need to have HL2 installed because I don't think LC can run without it. Anyway disreguard the rest of the post and when you install HL2 you shouldn't have any problems, I hope not at least. good Luck.
If you liked HL2, I think you will like this.

I purchased HL2 over the counter and when Lost Coast came out I had it downloaded and was playing it within minutes.
If you can't download it and you have HL2 on your machine it must be a firewall problem or something because I've never (and a couple of friends) have had no problem with it, other than one guys Nortons was blocking it but as soon as we gave steam access to internet again it downloaded it fine.
Thats the only thing I could think of, if you have HL2 installed then as soon as you open steam/games it should have it ready to download.
Good luck anyway, graphically it looks brilliant and gameplay is great too, but way to short. Hopefully they will bring out more addons or expansions or something it is very well done.

I think HL2:LC was just a techdemo...

A lil preview for aftermath :D

Thanks for your reply Homer, I was only asking as I got the impression it was only for those who have the 'Steam' (downloaded direct from Steam) version. And yes I dont currently have halflife 2 installed, due to a recent format of my system, so I havent actually tried to download it as yet. :)

Grumpy reaches for HL2 DVD to install game :D

the lost coast is a sort of semi expansion, and is very good.

yes you need steam, and it doesent matter if you have dvd or bought and downloaded it from steam themselves.

Yeah it is but it is done well, hopefully we won't have to wait to long for aftermath to be released, do you know of any dates or a time frame for the release.
It is unbelievable what they have done with the graphics in this game (HL2), for me it was one of only a few games that justified the long wait for it and the reviews it got.
Anyway have a good one guys.:D

Lost Coast indeed requires Half Life 2 to be installed as stated.

I downloaded HL2/activated it via Steam and so could download the Lost Coast level, which is just a tech display of HDR (High Dynamic Range) Rendering for suitable cards, namely Nvidia 6800 and above and ATI X800 and above I think.

Looks pretty, but locked up my PC once and using Anti Aliasing makes the Combine Soldiers float above ground like dummys  I have the required specs, 2.2Ghz CPU, 1.0GB RAM and ATI X850XT vid card!

Not bad for a freebie but still a few bugs in it!

HL2: Lost Coast is available for those who bought HL2 via steam or on DVD/CDs

I bought the DVD

Tonight I might reinstall it to download HL2:LC

I wish it wasn't as short as the guys here, say

Hopefully my machine will support it

Good Luck 2 all of us, downloading it and/or playing it !

It took me about 45min to DL via steam HL2:LC

Fortunately, mi machine runs it smoothly

I think it has some bugs, though

When I face the first combines, sometimes they appear lined up doing nothing, then, I walk away and they're gone and another one appears at another point shooting at me

So far, I think the graphics are great but the first stage is very boring to me

I think, HL2: Aftermath, wil be another ball game

that *is* the only level, it's a techdemo, nothing more.
