I was having all sorts of problems getting to play a multiplayer game of Dungeon Siege 2, and then I found out that the problem is the no-CD executable. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there another version of the no-CD .exe file out there?

Please visit this thread for some info....

Almost every game don't work online with a cracked exe.
The server you connecting to is checking the exe-file.

Use your original cd/dvd or a mini-image to play online!

Yeah that's what I've been doing. :(

But I get the impression that the crack will work if the guy you're playing with also has that. I'm going to try that tonight.

No it wont..

The server will check when you connect and disconnect you.

I don't get disconnected from the server. What happens is when I click "Join" it just says "Connection: Communication established. Connecting to host", and then hangs up and does nothing. No error messages, nothing.

Yeah cause it shut you out. Your not running the original exe file.. Try it, use the original one with your disc in and see how it connects.

Actually, I know only few games taht really need the original exe for playing online (okay, I don't use no/cds too often). I know that BF42 had this problem. But for example, I played FEAR online using a no cd crack without problems, same with Serious Sam 2. I guess checking the executable is mostly for anti cheating purposes, isn't it?

aaaHAA! It does work with other no-CD executables. My buddy from work switched to the no-CD last night and we played just fine. So I guess you can play with your friends as long as they have the no-CD. :p

Interesting, so they made a cross checking system, to see if both have the same exe file.

LOL

Contact the shop from where you purchased the CD or Gas Powered Games tech support and explain them your problem. Also make sure you still have the receipt(as you will be asked for a proof of purchasing the game).

Don't use a no-CD/DVD patch, they are known to not work online; use a mini/maxi/full image instead. (If you don't understand this, read the PC Games forum FAQ for terminologies and more.)

My DS 2 is on a DVD will that work?
And do I have to start it from the CD crack?

Try without a crack, with the original CD/DVD (whatever you bought in the shop), first.
