Hey, i experienced a strange problem while playing FEAR.
btw, Grumpy, i LOVE you for making me buy this great game, youre great ! :)
Well, I played around with the settings and under Audio/Sound there was the option called HardWare Mixing...
i just enabled it cause i thought that with a Soundblaster2 you can have this Hardware mixing thingie...
first 2 hours of playing i didnt notice anything but later after reading a review of the game @ 4players.de i knew that there were some kinda radio voices and your team chef talking to you, just what i didnt have...
so i played around in the settigns for some time, finally disabled hardware mixing and it worked... fixed a problem with luck.
so, does anyone know what it does and why i heard everything except the radio voices...?!

I think Hardware Mixing (not sure) is part of the EAX 2 and above system, it combines audio sounds with onboard environment effects.

In essence your radio chatter will sound louder in a domed area and duller in a tight area.

But im also sure it helps with playing 2 sets of audio sources, like a minimised game then playing an mp3 through media player also.

In essence it can help remove the load on your processor.
