I made a mini image and am playing with it now. (FOR THE EMPEROR :D).

Just insert disc 1, and start making an image with all options enabled, read speed 300. Then, let it get the DPM to 100%, but once it starts making the actual image, press cancel. If it asks you to cancel image making, say yes, and when it asks you to delete image files, say no. Mount the created image files on Daemon-Tools. Works perfectly for me, and they load faster than the original cd :cool:

A full image is an image of the game which can be mounter upon a virtual device and act just like the real image, just that its on your HD, and not on your cd. A mini image is something that gets mounted
upon a virtual device, and its only use is bypassing the protection, therefore allowing you to play without the CD. I like to use them because they allow me to play my games without swapping CD's online, while with a crack you cannot play online. Also, I like to use them because they take up less space on my HD then a full image.

Ok, put the CD 1 into your cd drive.

Then, turn on Alcohol 120%

Then, select Image making wizard in the top left part of the screen

Then select the drive in which you inserted the CD. (Hint: Its a pull down menu)

Now checks all of the follwoing options:
Skip Reading Errors
Fast Skip Error blocks
Advanced Sector Scanning
Read Sub-Channel Data
Data Position Measurement

Now, from the pull down menu for read speed select : 2X (300 KB/sec)

Now, press the next button in the lower right hand corner

At this menu, select where you want to save the mini image in the explorer, and type in the image name in the
Image Name:
field.

Now press Start

It will ask you for DPM Measuring Speed. Select : 2X (300 KB/sec)

Now press ok

Let the bar get to 100%

Once it gets to 100% it will reset itself. This means it has started to make the Image and is finished with DPM.So, once it resets, press Cancel VERY QUICKLY.

A message box will pop up asking you if you want to stop the process. Say Yes.

Another messagebox will pop up asking you if you want to delete the files. Say no.

Now, exit Alcohol, and start Daemon-Tools

In you taskbar, you should see the daemon-tools icon pop up. Right click on it and

Virtual CD/DVD-Rom Device -> Mount Image

Now select the image file you have just made in Alcohol. It will mount it, and thats it.

Now you can play the game from a mini image

Uh, it still says disc failed to authenticate when loaded in dt, maybe you could send your image file, if it works like that, to me?

You know, you might wanna try running it with Virtual CD hide on. Maybe the protection detects the Virtual CD, who knows?? I already patched up my registry against all blacklisting methods.

Hmm I tryed with V CD Hide on and I got a new error message- "A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed"

I dont know if this helps, but I have all original discs and dont want to keep swaping so I burnt an image of Disc 1 using alcohol with securom 4x-5x on at the slowest speed possible, then I mounted the image in daemon and it worked like a charm. As I dont really know what I am doing, I put the emulation for protection on in daemon, dont know if thats what did it.

Anti-Blaxx is a piece of **** that toally ****s up ure registry so that virtual devices can go undetected by the protection. It ****ed up my computer hella ****in bad, and i am ****in pissed at it. Anyways, if

Well, then thats the only link I could find. Dunno what else to do, except for you do manually patch up your registry. Don't ask me how to do that, just look around on Daemon-tools.cc. They have instructions there.

Ok, I got it working, cool game. Forget about Anti-Blaxx, just get Virtual CD Hide as those before have recommended. For some reason it wasnt working when I double clicked it, but now it works fine. I was having a conflict with daemon tools when I left the program (virtual-cd-hide)on my desktop.I moved it to a folder in my program files and it seems to be working fine, no conflicts. I then went into my program folder and double clicked the Virtual CD Hide program and it appeared in my taskbar.I then right clicked the icon in the taskbar and selected "Hide All Virtual Drives". Now just right click your shortcut on your desktop and select the compatability tab, check the box that says "Run this program in vompatability mode for" and select Windows 2000. Works great.

Should work..., worked for one of my friends who had the same prob as u guys.

Heh. I'm not off my rocker, huh.

I got this from an earlier post which suggested setting the compatiblity to the shortcut, which I couldn't. I would have posted more details but it was late and my eyes were blurry from playing...

Ok, to change the compatibility setting (this is from memory, so please bear with me. I am at work and don't have access to a windows machine.):

First, find the application directory, usu C:/Program files/THQ/Dawn of War (I think). In this directory there are four binaries, the two Dawn of War binaries and the two Winter Assult binaries. By binaries I mean the exe files. Right click on the WA exe's and among the tabs <i>should</i> be a compatibility tab. If not, its at least on one of the available tabs. There is a drop down menu for which OS. Choose Windows 2000. I am guessing the security check that is preventing Alcohol from working doesn't work on Win 2000 so when you set the compatibility, it doesn't try it. Or not. Heck if I know, it just works.

Remember to use the original DoW exe and the most recent Alcohol. I didn't need to set any of the emulation options on Alcohol either. I didn't try it with the mini image but I have been using an image created with BlindWrite, if that makes a difference.

I really hope this helps some of those who are stuck. I know I was sweating over it for too long! Having to switch out that CD w/o a backup can be a real pain in the posterior. :D

BTW, WA is nice, but, actually, I prefer DoW. (*ducks head*)

i meant it was easy to find (the thread), as with all pc's due to the nature that they all aren't the same configuration, some things work for some people, some things dont, perhaps you're doing something wrong, perhaps your image is bad, the only person who can really tell us that is you, and you arent exactly helping yourself.. for instance only now do u say u already tried the method stated in that post, or the compatability mode thing... we aren't mind readers

Yeah, I hear you. I am at work and haven't had a chance to try the Mini Image yet. I don't even care as I am using my original!! The expansion completed DoW to the point of perfection. I am having a great time with it. At least it's not Starforce. I wouldn't have bought this awesome expansion if it was. I am confused about one thing though maybe you can help me out with. I thought a Mini Image was for a Safedisk protected game. Safedisk has the anomalies at the beginning of the CD. When you use A120 to start making an image, you will get some errors. They say to cancel the image making process after 3 errors and you now have a Mini Image. But I didn't know this would work for a Securom7 game. That's probably why it doesn't work for you. Someone probably did the Mini Image process for this game not realizing that it has to be Safedisk for this Mini Image to work. Otherwise there would be a Mini Image for every game ever made that isn't Starforce. I could be mistaken though.

Follow these ways:

- Change the file Disk1Check.exe -> Disk1Check.exe.bak
- If you have 4 file with the extension: bwa (22 KB), bwi (640 MB), bws (26 MB), bwt (1 KB) then keep the extension but change the name. Ex: XXXXXXX.bwa -> mir-wh40kwa.bwa
(change all 4 files with the same name but difference extension)
- Mount the file bwt into Daemon Tools 3.47 then choose Run Game from the Autorun menu.

Remember: all 4 files must stay at the same location (wherever).

Hey after 2 days trying to get it working i finally done it and this is how.

1 get anti blaxx and the patch for it.find the folder where anti blaxx is install and extract the patch to it and replace it.
2 you ll need dameon tools aswell
3 install them both
4 get the image for dow wa
5 open anti blaxx go to settings where it says dameon tools click on it and find the exe for dameon tools
6 then click first game click protection and i choose securerom 7
7 then go to game option and find the w40kwa.exe and select it
8 click mount image and then choose use daemon tools
9 then put the image in where it says image.

Now goto daemon tools and mount the dow wa image there aswell turn off all emulation options. The game should start click play and you should be able to play it. let me know if it works for you or if ya have any questions.

THE REAL DEAL!!Get a mini image from the sister site, then mount it with Alc 120, then use cd-hide to stop Securrom from finding it! You must not have either program running in the background! Then change the the name of the disk check file( see previous post)to the name( disc check1 OLD)Secrom scans your memory to see if you have Alc120 or cd hide running!It took me 8 minutes, including downloading and installing! Click mount then exit ALC 120. Click hide all virtual devices, then close cd-hide in your program manager. This 10 min methoed will work on 90% of your systems. I have spent over 5 grand on computer games all the way back to the C-64(when i was 15)I deserve to play without the CD in the drive. And what if you and your wife/girlfriend(if your a real stud, then Both) wants to play on her computer? Do you really think I should buy 2 copies of the same game? And now its illegal to sell a used computer game, it now violates trade law, and violates the federal copyright act! An easy way to solve this BWI-file "problem" on cd1, just simply use MagicISO, under tools-use "any format to bin-file", to convert the BWI file to a ISO file. Then mount it with your deamon or alcohol. No need 2 burn it 2 a CD,just convert it. Unless you want to keep a copy of your original on disks.

Asking if someone knows anything about a crack does not mean he has pirated the game. Thats whats this forum is all about, help you so that you won't have to use your original disc all the time. Creating backups in order to save the originals...

Exactly so, Kosmiq. You're not alone in your judgment. BUT:

- the EULA clearly prohibits any modifications to game files, unless there is an official tool supplied by developers, to make such modifications - no developer has ever published an SDK that allowed cracking!
- with this EULA limiting the ability to make a working backup, all game publishers give you the opportunity to exchange damaged media - you get a lifetime warranty.

Whereas I totally agree that using cracks makes it more comfortable to play (you don't have to search through the entire disc collection for the disc you need to use), it is still illegal, as it violates the EULA. Sorry, guys. And every country a game is published in, accepted international agreements that force this country's law enforcement agencies to take legal actions against EULA violation.

Yes the EULA prohibits me from modifying/reverse engineer the games files. However I am merely using something that someone else did, not modify them myself. Not that I have read any EULA to the last row bit I think that makes it allowed? Anyhow I can imagine that using cracks is kinda a grey area as its not directly prohibited by any EULA but it could be read in a way that makes it forbidden... Or something like that... :p

Also getting a new disc from the publisher will cost you some money in shipping. So why do that when I am allowed to make my own backups?
