ive been tryin to backup god of war and gran turismo 4 but when i try to copy the disc it says the info contained on the disc is over 4.7gb, too big to fit on a dvdr. i know both programs are less than 4gb big as ive extracted them onto my ps2 harddrive but there not compatable and wont work.
is there a crack or patch to fix this problem?
i assume the TOC has been programed to do this and cause problems for backups.
Any info would be greatly recieved.

GT4 and GOW are dual layed dvd-9 games. You need a dual layer burner to back these up or you can search around for a rip kit.

whats a DVD-9? i tryed burning GT4 onto a dual layer DVD but the ps2 would,nt read the disc (using swap magic 3.6 with swap tool).
whats the difference between a normal dual layer DVD and a DVD-9?

DVD-9 is dual layer media. To load a direct DL backup it must be patched before it will load unless your modchip supports DL media. Check this thread out http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=70059&highlight=patcher. In your case even after you patch it it may not work with the swap magic. I know you dont want to hear it but you need a real modchip :)

is there any way i can get these games to work on my hard drive. they will convert onto my hard drive but wont load past the loading screen.
im using a maxtor 80gb hard drive with HD advance 2.0.

Because the HDLoader only copies the first layer (i.e. The first 4.4GB). GT4 is OVER 4.4GB (It's about 5.5 if I remember rightly), so it is bigger than 4GB. Because of this, it will only get to the loading screen as the data on layer 2 of the disc is completely missing.

Therefore, it'd be easier to simply get a real chip which supports DVD-9 and just back it up to a dual layer disc. You'd need a Dual Layer burner too, might I add...

what would be the best mod chip and how easy is it to install?
ps2 pal scph-50003.
maxtor 80gb hard drive.
can i install it myself, if not can any computer shop do it or is it a specialised thing?
sorry not too clued up on mod chips, always used swap magic 3.6.
will all my previous backups work with a DVD-9 mod chip?
by the way i already have a dual layer burner

I would have to say not only is the Infinity very easy to install, but its very reliable too. If you have no experience soldering I would recommend you get a pro to do it. Since your in England I would recommend contacting Lufcfan (http://www.fileforums.com/member.php?userid=30086)
