OK maybe this isn't the section to post this but I beleive its close enough. My problem is that I'm in need of some great games to play on a laptop. I travel alot and my powerfull desktops stay at home, so BF2 is not an option with a laptop containing a 1.3GHZ mobil CPU, 512mb system Ram, and a 64 mb intel videocard.
I just finished Heroes of M&M 4 plus its expansion (Great time killing game) and have been thinking about reinstalling Starcraft and its expansion and maybe even C&C Generals and its expansion providing that one plays good on it. I've played both of them before but its been awhile so maybe I'll find some interest in them again even though I can't see me bonding to old material again real well.
What I'd really like is something new and worthy of my time that can run on a system like mine. Anybody have some suggestions?

GLH, I fixed it, but I'm sure you knew it was just a typo error.
forget c&c generals, i have same system only with 2gh and it still runs poor, (i also run homm 4 + expansion on laptop great game :D , try emperor: battle for dune or homeworld 1, both in budget realease now and great games :)
Ahhh forget all of those!! Try 'Serious Sam' for that machine! Its excellent fun! And Luciel will agree to that. :)
And just for the record, the only reason I say that about 'those' other games is because I just dont get into strategy games! ;)

I'd try Warcraft 3 (I hate RTS games, too but just to mention that there are some of them :D ), Call of duty, Medal of Honor : Allied Assault, Age of Mythology...
What about FIFA 2003 or PES4? Should run with 1.4Ghz, sure it WILL be ugly but it depends on the fun you have with the game not on the graphics ;)

Luciel Luciel, battle for dune was a great game, thanks for reminding me of that one. It's been years since I played that, hope it runs good on Win XP. c&c generals won't work? I'm glad I mentioned it, now I don't have to go through the hassle of installing it. I've never played Homeworld 1, becuase I over indulged myself on H2 a few months ago so part 1 will probably just take up harddrive space on me until I'm in the mood for a Homeworld game again.
Grumpy, Serious Sam is so good, but I've been there and done that way too much. I like multiplay better for that type of game, and when I'm away from home I only have a trail dial-up AOL connection.:(
muJi.fiGHt3r, W3 would be so nice, I also have the frozen throne expansion but I'm guessing it will run pretty crappy on my laptop, maybe I'll try it and see what happens.
Call of duty, Medal of Honor : Allied Assault, I'm pretty sure those are going to flop badly on my laptop. AOM is so great but I've over did it on that one big time. Soccer games? I'm from the US, plus sport games seem only fun for me if I can play muliplay. My motel ISP really would be bad for that.
Thanks for the ideas so far everyone! Please keep them coming!
ah man, playing h2 without having completed h1 tottally spoils it, about dune, u sure ure not thinking dune 2000? emperor is from 2001 therefore works on xp
@Muji
Call of duty, Medal of Honor : Allied Assault
I dont class these games as strategy games. Both games were excellent games and I still play all the Medal of Honor games occaisonally. ;)

I wouldn't class them as strategy games, too ?! i just called WC3 one, not the games that followed after WC3... ;)
Why should they be strategy? Maybe Brothers in Arms but not CoD and MoHAA :D
i named strategy games because he seems to like them, no other reason really :)

You are very much so right! But I'm not completely limited to just that catagory. RTS and most all TBS games just seem to have lower requirements to use on a laptop compared to the likes of say HL2 or BF2, plus some RTS and most TBS games are superb time killers on the road that you can take your time at and not not have to use both hands to play if you happen to need one hand free to hold the laptop or you are using the laptop pad instead of a mouse:).

I would never be able to play a RTS on a laptop with an external USB-mouse...
With the built-in pad i thought it isn't possible to play any games :o
What about some freeware stuff? Like Blooby Volley (don't laugh ! :D ), Söldner?
Ah ! Bytheway: WORMS 3D !
yea any worms is perfect for laptop :) , moved to general gaming btw.

XCOMXCOMXCOMXCOMXCOMXCOMXCOM.
*breathes*
X-COM.
Sure, it's only a DOS game, and it's 320x200, but it's a sweet game. Plus, on top of that, it's awesome.
Oh, and Syndicate. And Theme Hospital. And Fallout(1&2)

I've always preferred PC games to emulated games... Emulators bother me. I don't know why. Part of it is that console games are never as complicated as PC games, and I like complicated games. Complicated games are awesome.
