I downloaded the Swat 4 patch but all it seems to be is a .dll file. Do I just copy this over to the SWAT/System folder? thanks

I don't know what you have downloaded.
When i download the V1.1 patch (german) i get this file: swat4_update_de_10_11.exe

I'm going to take a wild guess and say he has the crack. Which one would need to be officially updated to 1.1 and then replace the appropriate file with the crack file(s).

problems are:
When you replace files from the original untuched new installed system.
When you install a mod and when you uninstall it it dosent restore your original files.

It dosent effect when you play the game or changing the game settings.

What to do? go to the offical swat 4 forum and/or reinstall the game!
