Hi,

A while ago, somebody mentioned a converter cable that lets you connect IDE HDD to USB. There were some bad reviews about it where most people never got it to work.
I was wondering if anybody got it to work with such device or similar one using WINHIIP or other tools.
Please let me know as I'm thinking of getting one myself if it's good.

Thanks

I have one of these IDE to USB 2.0 Adaptors and never had any problem with it. I use winhip to transfer the games.

Thank you both for your input. Do you know how much slower it would be compared with regular HDL? I know 3-4 G games take about 30 min using HDLoader? How long will such games take using WINHIIP & IDE to USB cable?

Thanks

it depends how fast your PC dvdrom can read the disk, usually it takes 6 min for a 4GB game and if you already have the image on the PC hdd, it takes only 3 min.

Better off buying a USB 2.0 caddie, you can get one that will take both 3 1/2" HDD or CD/DVD-ROM/-R+R/W.

This will come with it's own power supply, be self contained and are really cheap now.

How would that be better the one I mentioned? Also, where can I get the one you mentioned?

Thanks

Well I already stated it is enclosed, most have built in fan for cooling.
It has it's own separate power supply, that makes it portable.

Probably cheaper than that cable and that's all it is.

I live in the UK, but I'm sure Canada will have them.
Just look for a USB 2 enclosure/caddie, like the ones in the link below.
