1st one:
Can you tell me (or just speculate) what kind of mod-chip do i have. Here are the details: V4 board, SCPH-30003. When i start the ps only the sony logo pops up just as before chipping. I boots (or it's suppose to boot) games (dvd and cd), video (all region codes).
To mention that dvd and cd games are booting normally without any action, or help form my side. To boot video, or psx game i need to turn my ps2 by holding the standby button for about 3secs (not just pressing it, but holding). It was modded about year ago.

Oh, and there is no chip configuration menu (or i just could not menage to find it -_-).

2nd question:
Can't get my DAMN copis working. The CD ps2 games, and DVD-video work perfect, but i can't run ANY of my DVD game backups. I tried diffrent programs (alcohol, dvd decrypter, and nero), and diffrent games (motocross mania and sw: revenge of the sith to be exact) but the result is always the same - the ps2 finds the game to be ps2 disc and runs it. Always when running backup, or and other game (or even video) u cann see few small blinks at the top of the screen and then the ps2 logo comes up. The problem is that when i run my backups after the flashes, the red "insert ps2, bla, bla..., bla, bla... disc format" screen pops up.
The strange thing is that in the beggining it detects it as good-to-play ps2 disc, and when trying to run it gives up. The problem is regarding only DVD back-ups. CD Any idea?

I tried to use TDK, Dysan, and Panasonic media. All are classifed as high-quality media.

Your chip could be anything from a messiah to a Duo2  . You either have a media issue or the laser is getting weak. Try some Ritek dvd-r. The media you listed isnt very good for PS2 backups.

A Little off with the two lasers for the PS2. There are 2 diodes, one for reading CD's and one for reading DVD's in the same laser... There is only one laser to clean. Someone please correct me if I am off track.

1 laser.

Put the CD Lense cleaner in, and give it a few plays, then try some quality DVD-R like Ritek G04 as suggested above.

If there is no improvement, you may want to consider taking the top off the DVD Drive and manually cleaning the lense...

I gived up cleaning using my ****ty CD cleaner.

Just opened the topand cleaned the lens manually using some cotton stick and vodka ^__^.

Plays fine ^__^. Maxell's (G04), and TDK (TDKG02) are workin'. Don't use ****ty Dysan's and Panasonic (though they are not cheap but they'r no good)
